Two Readers and Music, my favourite literary house party, pulled off another fabulous night of casual, cultural brilliance. Daniel Allen Cox started us off with his beautifully crafted essay on the life of a mover, followed by Haley Mlotek’s portrayal of the inner chaos through a divorce. The music was beautiful beautiful beautiful, but it’s a secret I’m not supposed to talk about 💋 thank you to the wonderful hearts who make this happen for us!

I do a lot of things, but hosting the Free Music Fridays series at the @afamuseum is probably the thing I’m most proud of. This is my gratitude post to all the musicians, the viewers and the museum for helping me keep this going. Please join us in 2024 as we bring you our new lineup, and please support these incredible independent musicians (as well as your favorite musicians everywhere) by buying their music, following them online, and liking and sharing their social media. And of course, please like, follow and support the museum. Thank you for everything! See you in 2024.

Three weeks ago, Jenny Erpenbeck met her readers at the bookstore. Her visit was nothing short of magical. Before the signing, she met @ellenadams who brilliantly interviewed her for @literaryhub. Ellen was kind enough to devote quite a few lines to De Stiil. The link to her article is in the bio. Happy reading!

Last month, I interviewed German author Jenny Erpenbeck—literary hero and, turns out, dynamite conversationalist. I spoke with Erpenbeck about Eros, infidelity, surveillance, and violence for @literaryhub among the shelves of @destiil_books

Before that, I had the delight of speaking with De Stiil’s Aude Le Dubé about the Montreal “cult” of Jenny Erpenbeck.

Here are some snippets! Read on via the bio link—and if you’re in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, you can find Erpenbeck’s English-translated work at @destiil_books

#fbf Feeling big feelings for @vermontstudiocenter rn. Earlier this month, the town of Johnson, VT was hit hard by floods that damaged artist studios, the resident lounge, art library, collections, facilities, equipment, and more.
.
This is such an incredible space where I got to meet and work near so many wonderful artists and writers. If you have the means, please consider donating to VSC to aid in their recovery.

1. May 2019 VSC residents being hella cute at the Red Mill.

2. Unexpectedly reunited with @ilaama99 for the second summer in a row because FATE!

3. Schultz Studios fam being pensive on our last full day.

4. That time @ellenadams and I held a small fundraiser to purchase a big speaker for the resident lounge so we and future residents could have dance parties.

5. An excursion to the scariest place ever. 😜
