Another Ennerdale horsehoe fell race beetle's eye view clip. Number 69 Bryan Dooley of City Racing finished the 37km 2300m epic in 27th place in exactly 5 hours and 5 minutes. Number 85, local Dava Williams of Ellenbrough AC, finished in 26th 27 seconds ahead - despite coming off a night shift to run (mandatory for Elbra runners).

Coledale horseshoe fell race run down 🔥

Coledale was where Tom took me out on a date last year and it amazed me it was so beautiful and we had the best running conditions. Lovely and sunny no wind whatsoever. Best views ☺️

So despite it being a tough run I’ve only ever had shiny happy memories of it.

Well let me tell you 👀 Going up there on a trail running date vs a fell race in hail snow and wind .. it’s completely different 🤣🫣🔥

I have done some tough running in winter and I can be a tough cookie. So, I was content with booking an AM category race as my first one. I run hills all of the time and Knowing the route apart from never having the bottle to climb up eel crag. .. Well this race tested me mentally more than any race I’ve ever done.

I run to feel and know how to pace myself given I have risk of Rhabdo relapse. But finding out there was an added cut off time due to the cold weather conditions this caused me to snowball and overthink about not making it. I fought my mind all the way up to the top of grizedale. I wasn’t my positive self and If it wasn’t for @tom.bradley44 motivating me and a lady behind shouting saying keep going your doing amazing pacing me. I don’t think I would have made it. Very grateful.

Coming down sail my mindset changed and I could push on and relax my mind a bit and finished feeling super proud I did it. Biggest takeaway is do not put myself under that type of pressure. Im great runner and can do hard things and do it well and thats enough. I’ve come a long way, i get to do these things based on how i look after myself. I blooming love this journey I’m on and will keep going 🔥 #coledalehorseshoe #coledalehorseshoefellrace #fellracing #girlswhorun

Still not running so hiked up Mickledore and onto Scafell Pike to watch the runners through in the last ever Great Lakes fell race 😢. Gutted to miss it.

It was a busy weekend across all fronts for Pete Bland Sports. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t hold out and it rained all day long at both events, but that never stops the PBS team.

With two vans on the road at different events, two of our staff members had an opportunity to race. Evan ran at Coniston 14, and Joey ran at Coledale Horseshoe.

Here is what Evan thought of the Coniston 14.
“What a great day at the Coniston 14! I was very proud to be there with Pete Bland Sports, who sponsored the event. I was busy working in the morning but luckily, I got the chance to race as well! I managed to finish in 10th place with a time of 1:19:47, absolutely smashing my expectations on such a tough (but stunning) course. It was also a new half marathon PB of 1:15:17. Huge thanks to the amazing supporters, volunteers, and everyone who made it happen. It was a wonderful way to spend my Saturday. “

Joey finished in a very respectable 48th place at Coledale Horseshoe in a time of 1:33:47. Weather conditions are always much harder when on the fell, and for Joey there was no carbon plate for added speed! Unlike for road racing Evan, where this definitely played into his favour judging by his new PB.
Coledale is an 8.5-mile race covering 3002ft of ascent. Coledale has a sharp climb to start things off, but the tough run is worth it with a fantastic grassy descent to the finish in Braithwaite. It makes for a brilliant, but challenging race, which Joey loves. A big thank you to @ellenborough_ac for organising the event.

An update on the Lakes Grand Prix will be posted soon.

MOONLIGHT DEMO RUN (TONIGHT) CANCELLED

Unfortunately, we've had to make the decision to cancel the headtorch demo run this evening due to the current and forecasted weather. We apologise for this late decision and any inconvenience this causes. We will still have the Moonlight pool of demo headtorches at our shop and you're more than welcome to come and take one for a spin from 5pm tonight if you'd like!

The film screening of 'George' and late night shop opening (with exclusive 25% discount) will still be taking place. However, we completely understand if conditions mean anyone is unable to travel to the event, please take the safe option!
If you're local and fancy a wee evening's entertainment then pop along to Kong (screening at 7:30pm) - there will be pizza and drinks available, plus spot prizes.

We are sorry again for cancelling the run, and thank you for your understanding.

Get your 2025 diaries out and get our races written in there so you don't double book!

19th April: Isel Cross. Starts at Cockermouth School and is a mixture of road, trail and fell.

20th May: 'Hay O' Trail. An evening race starting at Cockermouth School and it's mix terrain race to the summit of The Hay and back (prize for King & Queen of the Hay).

1st July: Lambfoot Loop. An evening underlating road race starting at Cockermouth School.

13th September: ONE 10. Starting at The Lakes Distillery, this road race is an underlating road race.

More details will follow on how to enter these races.
