yesterday one of my newer class regulars told me this:

“I was always intimidated to come to a circuit class. and then I took a couple with male trainers, and I think I felt… even more intimidated? so I thought these classes weren’t for me. then [my friend] (spoiler: it was @hcfhannah) asked me, ‘have you been to Bri’s class?’ and I hadn’t. so I went, and it was the most fun, funniest class I’ve ever taken. now that I’ve been going, I am keeping this in my routine. it just feels so good in my body, and I feel so energized every time I leave!”

it genuinely makes me tear up every time I think about these kinds of stories.
even on my worst days, when I go to meet one of my personal training clients or when I walk in to teach a class, the fog clears and I, too, feel better upon leaving.

I’ve been working in fitness for nearly a decade, and I actually did the math to check: I’m *well* over the alleged 10,000 hours to become an expert 😂
but the thing is, I still get to learn and expand every single day. I am always looking for tools to sharpen my skills and to be able to give people the knowledge, encouragement, and hopefully sense of reverence for their bodies that will make their life a more joyful, multi-faceted experience.
honestly, if I can just get you to find movement that tickles your brain or scratches an itch you didn’t know you had, and make you laugh at least a little?
what a gatdamn win and privilege that is.

at this point I could write an entire book on what this job has done for me, but I’ll save that.
I wish I could thank every single one of you every single day for trusting me & spending so much of your precious time with me.

I did come here, however, not only to express my infinite gratitude, but to share that for a third(? fourth??) year, I’ve been bumped to a finalist in the @austinchronicle Best of Austin awards. can you even believe?!
I would love to win this title again - not just for me or my resume, though.
as a representation of the community we’ve built. as a statement that while some very scary trends are bubbling up yet again in the world and this industry, we REBEL by loving ourselves, and the ability to move through the world!

So great @elliedots isn’t this the women’s lament and how do we do it different? Little girls are conditioned very differently than little boys. What’s the new script?

I cannot believe it has been a whole year since I taught my very first Dance Church class in Austin, Texas!!! Every Saturday morning has changed my life for good! It is my dream to dance with YOU every week. It genuinely heals my SOUL. Let’s do it forever.

I’m so thankful for the people I have met along the way who are shaping me to become a stronger human. Thank you for trusting me each week!

Lucky enough to call this a job. Come dance every Saturday at 10a ESPA. We are always there!
