BARBECUE SATURDAY... Hurricane Isaias 🌀 Party on.... 🥳 1976 BARBECUE, @waxhawtaphouse - Waxhaw, NC. The Food Porn.... All things Picanha today.... Picanha steak with Gus' Chimichuri sauce & a Picanha steak samich. Sides of Street Corn, Mac-n-cheese, and Gus' fantastic grilled pineapple! Gus is a master on the grill and with the smoker, but today, we have the grilled Picanha steak from his Brazilian roots that he has served us many times! This is absolutely terrific, and the Chimi is spot on!! The steak was cooked perfectly, tender, and incredibly flavorful. 1976 offers solid sides with the street corn being one of my favorites. Solid on the Mac-n-cheese, and I never miss the grilled pineapple! It's just a delicious meal on a sucky kind of day. Many thanks to Gus and his better half for feeding us a terrific meal.... ya'll go get yah some and follow them on the Gram so you can get your Picanha on! @1976barbecue

And find out who leaves Downtown Florence with bragging rights this year. 📅 Friday, October 16 ⏰ 5–9 PM 📍 Downtown Florence 🎶 Chocolate Chip & Company | 5:30–8:30 PM Will Elliott’s successfully defend the chili championship? 🌶️ Will last year’s wing champs return to protect their title? 🍗 Or is somebody new about to TAKE. MIDWEEK BARBECUE... Feelin' good again JON G'S BARBECUE, @waxhawtaphouse Waxhaw, NC. A rush off the bus and sprint to Waxhaw & luckily beat some of the line.... but a wait worth the wait! I could taste that Porky Brewster taco all the way here, and she didn't disappoint! Folks, this is really a terrific deal and really fantastic flavorful taco for the money! We, of course, had to have the brisket plate, which was absolutely wonderful.... I ate it caveman style, and it didn't have a chance of getting away. The Texa-Queso Sausage is so good, I bought extra.... another fabulous offer at a great price, too! They are a tubular meal... The sides of slaw, always good, and one of the people's choice sides - the brisket fried rice with yum yum sauce - is truly a meal in itself. The G'S crew was rockin' it out in Waxhaw tonight.... & we thank them all for the great dishes they provided us tonight! Saturday is coming, and if ya'll haven't experienced Jon G's Barbecue on a Saturday.... you need to get there this weekend! Go get some G L♥️ve! 🙌🔥♥️

The name alone, Elliott’s BBQ Lounge, clues you in that this place is a little different. It shares a building with Seminar Brewing, whose beer pairs perfectly with the food. And the pit house is right out front: before you ever get inside, you can watch pitmaster Elliott Moss shoveling coals behind dark screens of smoke. Neon’s everywhere, too. There’s a giant “Hot Barbecue” sign outside and a glowing script logo in the dining room. The barbecue is worth traveling for, which you’d expect from a James Beard-nominated pitmaster. It’s classic Pee Dee whole hog, with vinegar and pepper spicing things up. And Southern Living just named Elliott’s the best new barbecue joint in the South! But the real standout is the viiiiibe. Elliott’s has the best swag I’ve seen – my favorite shirt is a log of firewood that forks in two, and each branch has a face that looks like it should be throwing apples in the Wizard of Oz. The illustration style is playful and a little weird, and it gives the place a visual identity you don’t forget. On my recent road trip to Wilmington, I stopped in on the way and asked Elliott about the wooden signs out front. They’re covered in wild paintings of pigs that look straight out of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Turns out the artist was standing right in front of me. Elliott gave me a tour of his Supper Club sign series, which he makes right at the counter. The art fits the place, and it’s part of why Elliott’s is bringing new attention to the Pee Dee. Next time you’re on I-95, you’ll spot one of the last remaining Quincy’s from the road. That’s how you know where to exit. The fact that I’m telling you to blow right past it and keep driving to Elliott’s should tell you everything. They’re having a good time down there in Florence. #scbbq #peedeebbq #wholehog #roadsidebbq
