“I once sat upon the throne of a kingdom. Now I spend my nights shivering under weathered canvas. Boots that have crossed the timeless plains of the gods are battered and dirty from a life of exile. If anyone knew what it meant to fall from grace, it was I…

The royal rogue.

Until recently, I was a pitiful being; a fallen “hero” torn asunder by the tragedies spurred by my own failures. Through the years, my hatred had devolved into misery. It molded me; changed me. Set upon a spiral of self-destruction, I became dangerous in every sense of the word.

Yet somewhere inside that shell of my former self was something the gods saw fit to redeem. I died, only to be revived with air in my lungs and magic in my veins.

My name is Jaspur Clovenhoof, and I don’t know whether I am blessed or cursed. Yet as I sit upon this cliff, its lip jutting from the mountainside like a defiant fist, I’ve never been more certain of my purpose or who I am.”

- Lost Prince of Nevaharday

The main event: The Hakata Classic. Beautifully slow-cooked pork broth is the star of this dish, as it’s earthy richness encapsulates soft, chewy noodles and the accompaniments. Imagine this pool where chashu pork slices, rich marinated Jidori eggs, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, pickled plum, nori, spicy bean sprouts, and a kick of pickled ginger come to play together harmoniously. Are you drooling yet?! I kicked it up a bit with the addition of an egg half and their Namba butter, infused with deep fried shallots for an extra kick of richness. You. Must. Try. This. Ramen! I will tell you, this is the best ramen I’ve had in my life so far. The time and attention put into this is exquisitely satisfying.

I always have the best experiences at Namba Ramen and Sushi, and Saturday was no exception. This is their grilled octopus: tender, grilled bbq style octopus with salty and smoky bonito flakes and sautéed tomatoes with micro greens. Served with a tangy white sauce, this was absolutely delicious. A great, adventurous starting appetizer.

I recieved the most special book the other day from my beautiful girlfriend @elliwrites.

If you haven't been fortunate enough to cross paths with her, you're missing out. She is so incredibly talented and she never ceases to amaze me. She has the biggest heart and has the ability to make me grin like an idiot on a whim.

I was done with dating, done trying to find someone and I guess fate had other plans. She is my best friend and I can't imagine my life without her in it.
I love you Elli Carlton
