SAVE THE DATE Sunday, Nov 1st 10-6:30pm Honrando a Nuestros Ancestros puts focus on our beloved family members who died in their struggle for a better life, for fairness, land justice, tending to our Mother Earth, dignified housing, cultural worldviews, for historically accurate education, and for peace of mind. We are against past and ongoing colonial injustices that take away our land resources that have displaced millons of communities and impacted our mental health. We oppose gentrification that displaces small, mom-and-pop business and the ongoing colonization of the world! This is what our younger generations are facing. Honrado a Nuestros Ancestros will be for life, justice and against (colonial) gentrification. SAVE THE DATE Sunday Nov 1st 10am-6:30pm This year we collaborating with @coyotl.macehualli and implementing educational workshops that will encourage conversations that deepen our understanding of our current events to take action towards a better future . If you are interested in volunteering for this event, we especially need help with face painting and bringing food, fruit, and drinks.

The El Sereno Night Market is a labor of love. ❤️ It’s the tenacity to keep showing up, the joy we find in each other, and the community that reminds us why we started. Every week, we pour a love into this place, and you can feel it in every plate, every small business, every conversation, and every smile. So come be part of it. 🫶🏽 Because this market is more than a Wednesday night, it’s community, and it’s ours. ✨🫂❤️

Inside Safe is not a solution to homelessness. It is a displacement program designed by politicians invested in upholding our current capitalistic hellscape. It greases the wheels of the homeless industrial complex, keeping non-profits employed and pockets lined, while actively dismantling and destroying the street communities who create networks of care and provide for themselves what city officials actively spend tens of thousands of dollars to strip away in sweeps every day. Under the guise of “care”, city officials gleefully huddle up as if this were a sports match and descend upon a community they have no relationship with— calling people by the wrong names and forcing them to agree to have their belongings destroyed on camera in order to secure a temporary motel room at an undisclosed location. They say this is voluntary with LAPD officers onsite threatening arrest and LASAN garbage trucks and bulldozers poised to destroy everything in the designated “zone”. The metric of success is not whether someone living on the street is permanently housed— it is measured by whether the public streets or abandoned lots where people carved out homes for themselves have been cleared of all signs of life. It is a sidewalk clearing program not a housing program. The goal is to prevent “repopulation”. After I commented on a recent post by @laistofficial reporting on the tragic death of Raz Chowdhury— a houseless Koreatown resident who died in isolation after being displaced into an inside safe motel— one Nicholas Chiodini (nchio) went on a brief harassment campaign that ended with him telling me to die before blocking me. Idk this dude and I’m not phased by his hateful rhetoric but I share so that anyone else who may know him or cross paths is aware of how quick he is towards violence. I was advocating for community self-determination and the autonomy of poor and houseless people to create our own solutions. Solutions like @poormagazine ‘s Homefulness. Solutions like the street communities that build networks of care for everyone that continues to suffer under the oppressions of an individualized, colonial society. Politicians, liberals, and even well-mean

Multiple FREE FOOD offerings from Polo's Pantry @polospantryla will be available tomorrow during lunch at 12PM for the 4th TAKAAPE' WAASHUT NELA BLACK WALNUT DAY Join grassroots community and local partners as we come together to honor and celebrate the resiliency of the Takaape' Waashut (Southern California Black Walnut Tree in the Tongva language) with plant adoptions, a bird walk, community bike ride, hiking, teach ins, art, live music, food and more!! Free and open to the public Black Walnut Day is an annual gathering held during harvest season to honor the SoCal Black Walnut as a resilient member of our Indigenous, Latine, Chicanx, migrant and BIPOC community. Black Walnut Day was born out of the struggle against a multi-million dollar development that would have destroyed 110 Black Walnut trees and habitat and threaten 900 nearby tenants with economic displacement. Reclaiming this Land has led to regenerating relationships with the land and Peoples across Northeast Los Angeles. • Practice sustainably harvesting • Process seeds for the seed library • Arts & crafts for youth • Interactive theater • Explore NELA open spaces through hiking and bird watching • How can you help prevent displacement • Recognize the signs of green gentrification • Talk about the science of NELA hillsides • Prevent the destruction of habitat • Cultivate your relationship with the Land • And, be a caretaker of Land Tongva language translations provided by Tina Calderon, Tongva Culture Bearer @lalas_song and Annie Mendoza, Gabrieleno-Tongva @comradeannie17 'ekweenare 'eyoo 'ooxono or "we care for our land" Takaape' Waashut or "Southern California Black Walnut" -—-•-—-• @coyotl.macehualli @nela_alliance @kalliarte @lalas_song @audubon_debspark @north_east_trees @communitynatureconnection @treepeople_org @owens_valley_indian_water @losangelespba @saveelephanthill @caracolnela @elserenocommunitycare @un_naturalist @ascothillsparkla @lincolnhtsnc @avenue50studio @el_haru_kuroi @nativesageagainstthemachine @highlandparknc @latenantslhts @polospantryla @hechobycaye @savethevireo @theodorepayne @savepoppypeak @la32nc @harnawazboparai @sgbmigt
