POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

THIS FRIDAY! Install is currently underway: Constructed Realities is a group exhibition featuring an intergenerational group of artists working at the corners and intersections of artist books and book-adjacent objects. This survey investigates the book as a conceptual and exploratory form. The work in this show crosses between bound books, painting, zine, mailers, projection, and sculpture. The experience of these objects constantly fold and collapse into each other. Borders exist but they are not impossible to cross.

I just unboxed the 2025 Decor Maine Art Issue, featuring “six can’t-miss galleries,” including Sidle House! I used to wistfully peruse the pages of every Maine-aligned magazine while living away from home from 2004 to 2012... so this feels like a pretty big moment. What a thrill it is to have the gallery, and exhibited artists featured! I’m honored to be in such good company. Thank you Decor Maine!

‘Emma Mchold-Burke’

Emma Mchold-Burke doesn’t just paint—she collaborates with her materials, embracing their imperfections, their stories, and the way they are impacted by time and place. With a practice spanning from Pennsylvania to Maine, the 26-year old uses her work to explore the natural world’s ephemerality, material as message, and painting as a sculptural form.

“As We Are” a group show of 14 emerging artists, opened last week and I don’t think I could be happier with how the warm receptions were. Everyone’s work looks so freaking amazing, and the sweet @party_as_praxis curated this jewel of a show. He said something along the lines of this show being a cross section of the Maine arts community and I truly believe that. I saw so many other amazing artists at the openings and still - I find myself beyond humbled by their presence. I do not know what I have done to make it into this group, but if anything can be said I am going to continue to work hard to honor this opportunity. When I was 15 I was in a youth art show at the museum, and when I was a kid I would see the paintings, and this museum played a pivotal role in making me want to be a painter. I am feeling so so grateful for this opportunity, my friends and my parents for making me want to push myself and keep doing better. I love you all 💫 the show is open through April 27th. —————————————————————————————————————————————————

Emma McHold Burke
“Emma McHold-Burke loves chasing things you cannot hold, making things you cannot see, and being the loudest person in the room!!”

We all miss Emma since she moved from Portland but she has sent us some of her wonderful art so we can all remember her.
