“If you weren’t as strong as you were, you’d be dead.” Those are the words Coach Eddie heard from his doctors. When Eddie became critically ill with double pneumonia, RSV, and sepsis at age 63, the strength and fitness he had spent the last almost four years building through @crossfit suddenly became about something much bigger than a workout, a PR or a score on the whiteboard. It literally became about staying alive. His body had strength in reserve when he needed it most. Most people his age would be dead. But his years of showing up, putting in the work and building his capacity gave his body a fighting chance. But Eddie will also tell you that his fitness wasn’t the only thing that carried him through. His Ironclad CrossFit community gave him a reason to keep fighting. His people. His athletes. His friends. His team. His coaching floor. Throughout his illness and the long road back, the Ironclad community rallied around him. They checked on him. Encouraged him. Reminded him how loved he was and how many people were waiting for Coach Eddie to walk back through those doors. He had something to fight his way back to. And eventually, he did. We train because we never know what life is going to ask of us. The unknown and unknowable. We build strong bodies so they’re ready to fight when we need them most. Even when it's fighting for your very life. And we build relationships that give us something worth fighting for. Coach Eddie fought his way back to us. And every time we see him standing on that coaching floor or taking a class, likely joking around as always, we’re reminded just how damn close we were to losing him and just how grateful we are that we didn't. 🎬 If Netflix made a series about the Ironclad CrossFit Team... ...we'd watch every single episode 🍿😂 Featuring a cast of characters who somehow manage to... ☕ Run almost entirely on caffeine 📣 Celebrate every PR like someone just won the championship 💪🏼 Turn "just one more rep" into an art form 🤣 Roast each other relentlessly... then have each other's backs without hesitation 🎯 Care deeply about every member who walks through the door 🔥 Bring the energy every single day, whether it's 5:00 a.m. or the last class of the evening No script... 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗘𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗲 — one of the passionate leaders behind the community at Ironclad CrossFit 🛡️ Coach Eddie has been coaching CrossFit for just under three years and brings energy, encouragement, and belief into every class he leads. His coaching superpower? Helping people realize they’re capable of far more than they think. Whether it’s lifting heavier, moving with more confidence, or overcoming a fear that once felt impossible, Eddie thrives on pushing athletes beyond self-imposed limits in a safe, supportive, and motivating environment. What first drew Eddie into coaching was the opportunity to help people and be the kind of Coach who truly believes in others — even before they fully believe in themselves. That passion shines through every class he teaches. As a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, Eddie’s favorite part of coaching is watching members walk out of the gym smiling, knowing they worked hard and accomplished something meaningful. For him, coaching is more than leading workouts — it’s about creating an hour where people feel empowered, encouraged, and capable. Eddie’s goal as a coach is simple: continue becoming the best person he can be while helping others grow into the strongest versions of themselves — physically and mentally. He considers it an honor to spend 60 minutes with athletes each day and witness the positive impact CrossFit can have over weeks, months, and years. Whether you’re stepping into your first class or chasing new goals, Coach Eddie is the kind of coach who will meet you where you are — and help you discover what you’re truly capable of 🛡️

🗣️ THE WHITEBOARD BRIEF 🗣️ The whiteboard brief isn’t “just explaining the workout.” It’s one of the MOST important parts of coaching 🛡️ The whiteboard brief sets the tone, intent and understanding for the entire class. A good whiteboard brief should answer: ➡️ What are we doing? ➡️ Why are we doing it? ➡️ How should it FEEL? ➡️ What’s the intended stimulus? ➡️ How do we scale appropriately to hit that stimulus? This is where great coaching begins 💯 It’s not about reading reps off a board 🙅🏼‍♀️ It’s about creating clarity, confidence and buy-in before the workout even starts 💥 A great whiteboard brief helps athletes: ✅ Understand pacing and strategy ✅ Choose smart scaling options ✅ Move with purpose and intention ✅ Avoid turning every workout into a “send it” session ✅ Get the adaptation the workout was designed to create Because intensity without understanding? That’s not effective coaching. At Ironclad CrossFit, we want our athletes to know the WHY behind what they’re doing. We want you to understand the stimulus, move well, scale smart and train for longevity 💪🏼 The whiteboard brief is where our classes begin with great coaching 👏🏼 We Are Ironclad 🛡️

So apparently it’s a very narrow window for the cherry blossoms 😢Full disclosure: these were fake. But paddle boating by the Lincoln Memorial was a winner ❤️

At Ironclad CrossFit, one thing is always true — no one finishes alone 🛡️ It doesn’t matter if you’re brand new or a seasoned athlete… whether you’re lifting heavy, moving slow, or somewhere in between. Your fitness level, your experience, your current capabilities — they all belong here 🙌🏼 Because every single workout can be scaled to YOU 🫵🏼 Our Coaches meet you where you are, adjust the workout to fit your needs, and guide you every step of the way 🫱🏼‍🫲🏻 That’s how progress is built. That’s how confidence grows. And when the workout gets tough… when the clock is ticking… when you’re the last one still moving — that’s when the magic happens ✨ Because you won’t hear silence... You’ll hear cheers. You’ll see your people waiting for you. You’ll feel the entire room behind you. You might be the last to finish… But you will NEVER be alone 🫶🏼 We Are Ironclad 🛡️

TEAM BLACK FOR THE WIN 🖤 Our Valentine’s Day Challenge brought the energy, the effort, and the community we love so much at Ironclad. While everyone walked away with a well-earned @fitaid (because if you showed up, you already won), we’ve got to give credit where credit is due… Team Black swept the house and took the W for the day! 🙌🏼 But here’s the real story... The high fives. The laughs between rounds. The cheering when the legs were tired and the heart rate was high. That’s what this place is about. At Ironclad, winning isn’t just about the scoreboard. Winning is setting your alarm and actually getting up. Winning is walking through the door when it would’ve been easier not to. Winning is showing up for yourself — and for the people beside you. Because when you show up, you’re not just participating… You’re building strength. You’re building consistency. You’re building community. And that’s the kind of win that lasts a whole lot longer than one workout. Congrats, Team Black 🖤 And to everyone who showed up — you’re the reason this community is so special. We Are Ironclad 🛡️
