💕 A much-needed mother/daughter day before surgery next week. We spent the afternoon at The Corner Nook in Parker, meeting author Emily Krempholtz, creating Sola Flower Books by Zamarron Designs, and making sweet memories together. 📚🌸❤️

Feeling grateful for these little moments.

The coziest book, perfect for this fall season! This one had been sitting on my @netgalley shelf for a while, but it was definitely worth the wait 💜

One of the BEST sequels I’ve read this year. I am completely obsessed with this ridiculous, hilarious, romantic, chaotic adventure and I need everyone to read it. 😂

Think Flynn Rider if he were Robin Hood meets Lindsey Stirling if she were a D&D bard. That is the energy. THAT IS THE VIBE. And somehow it works so ridiculously well.

Prudence is trying to find herself and maybe become famous along the way, but instead she accidentally sets fire to the town hero (YES, IT’S A GOAT 🐐), ends up in the hands of the rogue Rook aka Callum, and gets swept into a whole new adventure. Oh, and did I mention there’s a steamy kiss that helps kick the whole thing off? 👀

AND BARTLEBY. 🌿🗡️ A kleptomaniac Pothos who wields a dagger with absolutely no hesitation. I love him. I would die for him. I need my own tiny dagger-wielding plant immediately.

The whole crew is back and somehow gets themselves into even MORE trouble, heading off on an adventure of a lifetime while Pru is still trying to figure out who she is and Callum has sworn off Pru. Surely those two things will go according to plan, right?

…RIGHT? 😂

It’s chaos. It’s banditry. It’s growing pains and hidden secrets and found family and SO MUCH tension. There’s romance, banter, adventure, ridiculousness, and just enough emotional depth to make all the chaos hit even harder.

I ADORED THIS BOOK. Truly. I laughed, I swooned, I got way too attached to Bartleby, and I never wanted this merry-not-merry little crew to stop adventuring.

@embakesbooks_ somehow made me love these characters even MORE, and I genuinely cannot explain how badly I need everyone to read this series. If you loved the first book, RUN. If you haven’t started it yet… what are you waiting for?! 😭💗

SUMMARY: Violet Thistlewaite has spent her entire life as the much-feared Thornwitch, right hand of the dark sorcerer Guy Shadowfade. But Guy is dead, and Violet seizes the opportunity to reinvent herself in a nearby village as a mild-mannered florist. She spends her time charming her new neighbors, but her new identity is put at risk when a mysterious blight appears in town—along with someone from her past.

This was such a charming genre mashup! It had all the fun world-building of a cozy fantasy with the lighthearted interactions of a rom-com—plus a wacky sentient plant that feels suspiciously like it may be setting the scene for a future reveal.

I especially loved Violet’s relationship with Nathaniel, the straightlaced, hardworking alchemist whose carefully ordered life she promptly disrupts. She is exactly the piece he needs to soften some of his sharper edges—even if he might not initially agree.

One of the most interesting ideas in this entertaining novel is the way our upbringing inevitably shapes who we are—but doesn’t have to define us. And that was true for both Violet and Nathaniel.

Violet was raised by the region’s darkest villain, following his guidance and seeking his approval from childhood. She carries significant guilt about the things she did with and for Guy, but she was essentially brainwashed before she was old enough to question what she was being taught. Her experience reminded me of people raised in communities with extreme beliefs: When something is presented as truth throughout your childhood, you may not recognize it for what it is until you grow up and begin questioning it yourself.

Nathaniel’s experience is less sinister but still limiting. Because of his parents, he has come to believe that his role is to be the hardest-working person in the room—even though that was never what they wanted for his life.

I love when a “fun” read also speaks to something real.

This is a perfect early-fall transition into witchy reading.

Read it now—its standalone companion, Prudence Marsh Is Not a Nobody Anymore, returns to the same magical world on November 10!
