On Friday, we invite our radio station founders for a deep dive workshop session with one of electronic music's most respected figures. This is not open to the public; only radio station delegates are invited to participate. DM us if you feel you qualify! Jane Slingo is a prominent Australian electronic music industry professional, artist manager, and policy advocate with over 30 years of experience shaping the country's nightlife and contemporary music culture. She began her journey in 1994 within the Brisbane rave scene, later moving into media by writing for street press and co-launching the Australian edition of Remix magazine in Sydney. Transitioning behind the scenes as a booking agent, promoter, and tour manager, she founded her boutique artist management agency, Young Strangers, in 2006. Slingo is widely recognized for her leadership of major electronic music institutions and global nightlife consultancies. Since 2014, she has been a driving force behind the Electronic Music Conference, eventually stepping up as its Director and Executive Producer to turn it into a premier industry event in the Southern Hemisphere. She also serves as the Director of VibeLab Asia Pacific, working alongside international European nightlife experts to use data-driven research to improve late-night urban governance, safety, and city planning. Slingo is equally celebrated as a fierce advocate for nightlife culture, playing a pivotal role in campaigns that successfully repealed Sydney's restrictive lockout laws and secured historic funding for the New South Wales contemporary music sector. Her strategic vision is regularly utilized by government bodies, as seen through her positions on the Sound NSW Advisory Board, the NSW 24-Hour Economy Advisory Council, and her role as Deputy Chair of MusicNSW. Her lasting impact on the music ecosystem has earned her consistent placement on the industry Power 50 list and top honors at the Association of Artist Managers Awards.
