Struggling to do your exercises because you’re in pain? That’s where hands-on treatment comes in. Pain is one of the most common reasons people stop doing their rehab. It hurts, so it doesn’t get done. Some clinics only do manual therapy. Some only do exercise. We blend both. Hands-on treatment settles the pain and opens a window. That’s when the exercise goes in, and when the strength work actually sticks. Manual therapy was never meant to cure you. It’s the tool that gets you on the path to better outcomes. 📲 In pain and struggling with your exercises? Book via the link in bio. #fyp #foryou #physio #manualtherapy #physioadelaide

Runners, if you’re ramping up your kms this spring, this one’s for you 🏃 More training, a race in the calendar, longer runs as the weather warms up. It’s the time of year we start seeing bone stress injuries come through the clinic. Bone stress injuries sit on a spectrum, from a bone stress reaction through to a stress fracture. Same problem, different stage. Bone adapts to load, just more slowly than muscle does. When your running volume or pace increases too quickly, the bone can’t keep up. It’s rarely one run that does it. It usually builds over four to six weeks. The signs to watch for: ◼️ Pain that starts late in a run, then creeps in earlier each time ◼️ Pinpoint pain that’s tender when you press directly on the bone ◼️ Pain that doesn’t ease as you warm up ◼️ Most common in the shin, but also through the foot and up into the thigh Catching it early makes a big difference. A stress reaction can settle in a few weeks. A stress fracture means six weeks or more. The best prevention is to build your volume gradually, eat enough to fuel your training, and prioritise your sleep. 📲 Got a race coming up or need help planning your running? Hip exercises in rehab and training often look similar, but the difference is load, control, and intent. Early on, we keep things lower and more controlled. Same patterns, but with different demands. ◼️ Box step up (30”) → Dumbbell box step up (45”) ◼️ Hip airplane → B-stance dumbbell RDL ◼️ Banded hip abduction → Dumbbell side step up Rehab focuses on rebuilding single-leg control, glute strength and hip stability first, so your hip can actually tolerate load through the ranges it gets exposed to every day. Once that base is there, we can add height, load and lateral demand. That’s where strength and resilience really start to build. If you skip the foundation, heavier lifting becomes the stress test your body isn’t ready for. Rehab → Capacity → Strength. 📲 SAVE + SHARE if this was helpful If hip pain or weakness keeps interrupting your training, book an assessment with our physios via the link in our bio 🔗 #fyp #foryou #hippain #physio #adelaidephysio

Tearing your ACL isn’t what ends athletes’ careers. Bad rehab is. ACL rehab fails for two reasons. No structure, and no accountability. Here’s the honest truth: surgery or no surgery, you’re looking at 9 to 12 months of rehab. That timeline doesn’t have a shortcut, and the surgery itself doesn’t fix your knee. It replaces the ligament. What you do over those 9 to 12 months is what determines your outcome. Most people piece it together session by session. An appointment here, a program they do at home, a vague plan to “see how it feels.” That’s where reinjury comes from. That’s why we built our full ACL rehab packages. Structured, phased, and physio-led from day one through to return-to-sport clearance: ◼️ Objective VALD ForceDecks testing at every stage, so you progress on data, not on how the knee feels or how much time has passed ◼️ Hands-on physio and supervised gym sessions, 1:1 and in small groups ◼️ Recovery included, with unlimited sauna and compression boots ◼️ Direct access to your physio between sessions ◼️ Progress reports to your surgeon, GP, coach or club ◼️ A team that keeps you accountable the whole way through Surgical or non-surgical. Pre-op, freshly post-op, or partway through a rehab that’s lost direction. We can assess where you are and get you into the right phase. We work alongside Adelaide’s orthopaedic surgeons and welcome referrals at any point along the pathway. The road is long. But it has an end, and you should arrive there with proof you’re ready, not just a feeling. 📲 Book an assessment via the link in bio #fyp #foryou #physio #rehab #acl

The chin tuck is one of the best exercises there is for neck pain and end-of-day headaches, when it’s actually done properly. The problem? Most people turn it into a nod, force it, or push through it like it’s a strength exercise, and end up irritating the exact area they’re trying to settle down. Here’s what we see all the time: ◼️ Chin dropping and tucking into the chest (that’s neck flexion, not retraction) ◼️ Head tilting up and back into extension ◼️ Brute force, cranking through it like it’s a rep to be smashed ◼️ Shoulders creeping up, jaw clenching Here’s what we actually want: ◼️ Eyes and chin stay level, the head glides straight back like you’re making a double chin ◼️ Long through the back of the neck, gentle stretch at the base of the skull ◼️ Small, subtle range. This is an activation exercise, not a stretch to force ◼️ Hold 3 to 5 seconds, release slowly, jaw and shoulders relaxed The chin tuck works because it wakes up the deep neck flexors, the muscles that hold your head over your shoulders. When they switch off, your upper traps compensate all day. That’s the tightness and the 3pm headache. Gentle and consistent beats hard and occasional. Every time. 📲 SAVE this and check your form next session If neck tension and headaches are becoming a daily pattern, book an assessment with our physios via the link in our bio 🔗 #fyp #foryoupage #foryou #physio #rehab

The Romanian deadlift is one of the best hamstring and glute builders there is, when it’s actually a hinge. The problem? Most people turn it into a squat, or let the load pull them into a round back, and end up feeling it everywhere except the hamstrings. Here’s what we see all the time: ◼️ Knees bending too much - it becomes a squat ◼️ Lats switched off, so the dumbbells drift away from the legs ◼️ Lower back rounding as the dumbbells drop below the knee ◼️ Ribs flaring, chest collapsing Here’s what we actually want: ◼️ Hips travel back, not down - soft knees, shins close to vertical ◼️ Lats engaged - think “protect your armpits” and keep the dumbbells tracking close to the thighs ◼️ Ribs down, flat back throughout ◼️ Lower only as far as your hamstrings allow - then drive the hips forward to finish The range comes from your hips and hamstrings. The moment it comes from your lower back, you’ve stopped doing an RDL. 📲 SAVE this and check your form next session If your lower back keeps flaring up after lifting, book an assessment with our physios via the link in our bio 🔗 #fyp #foryoupage #foryou #physio #rehab
