We collected more than 75 postcards from Yale faculty about academic freedom. Here are a few highlights. One calls academic freedom “the heart of what makes our job possible.” Another describes a chilling concern: that “women” has become a flagged term in the writer’s gender-history work. Both ask Yale for binding protection this term. These concerns show why faculty say academic freedom needs to be protected in practice—not only affirmed in principle. What faculty feel safe teaching, researching, and writing about shapes the work Yale can do. The cards are addressed to President McInnis. They make a direct appeal to university leadership as Yale negotiates with the Department of Justice (DOJ) over its School of Medicine admissions process. The DOJ’s findings are allegations, not a court ruling. Yale says the current talks concern the medical school; investigations into Yale College and Yale Law School remain open. A second proposal was reported as pending in September, but its terms have not been made public. Faculty are asking Yale to make its commitment to academic freedom binding before any agreement is reached. ✊ Join us and get involved in protecting our academic freedom today: aaupyale.org AAUP Yale logo on a light gray background with a faint grid. Large black and red text reads “Read The Postcards,” with “Fall 2026” below. The slide asks, “What does academic freedom make possible? Yale faculty answer in their own words.” At the bottom is the postcard cover, reading “Real Academic Freedom for All Yale Faculty,” and the website aaupyale.org.

The security guards who patrol Northeastern’s campus have been working without a contract since July 31, and their union says their employer, Northeast Security, is the only company still holding out on healthcare. Northeastern pretends to have no part in the livelihoods of essential workers on its campus simply because they’re contracted, yet Harvard has required its service contractors to provide healthcare since 2002– but only after students and workers forced the issue. Want to stand with union workers in their fight for healthcare? Come to EFP meetings - every Thursday at 7:00pm in Renaissance Park room 310!

⭐️💜 Student Power Gathering 2026 💜⭐️ On September 25th through 27th, a hundred student organizers from across the Midwest gathered at the University of Kansas (KU) in Lawrence for one common goal: to show that student organizing is alive and well, despite the region receiving little-to-no coverage! Throughout the weekend, students shared their ideas, talked about their campaigns, but most importantly had the opportunity to create bonds that supersede state borders and formed through a desire to make meaningful change across their campuses. These students were taught by a slate of CCN trainers who all had incredible experience and lessons to pass down regarding student organizing, and also had the opportunity to hear from numerous leaders organizing within Kansas City and learn about a major win by KU faculty in forming a union. We thank everyone that was in attendance and took the time out of their busy schedules to come down and step out of their comfort zone. We also thank all the leaders that stepped up to make this gathering possible, no matter what role you took on. This gathering was truly unforgettable and proved that the student power movement is continuing to grow, can’t be stopped, and is backed up by an incredible set of student leaders! 🌽🌻🪻🌱
