Happy World Mental Health Day! 💚🌿

A reminder that mental health matters, asking for help is a sign of strength, and no one has to navigate their struggles alone. Let’s continue breaking the stigma, showing compassion, and making space for honest conversations about mental health 🫶🏻

Be kind to your mind, today and every day 🤍

Not every week is going to be sunshine and rainbows ☀️🌈

Some weeks will challenge us more than others, while others seem to fall into place effortlessly. But at the end of the day, I continue to show up for the people who matter most in my work: my clients.

Even on my hardest days, they remain at the forefront of my mind. I show up for them. I show up to help them navigate their challenges, experience breakthroughs, discover things about themselves they may have never recognized before, and realize their own strength and potential.

Being a social worker is not an easy job, and let’s be honest, most of us aren’t in it for the money. We do this because we care. Because we believe in people, even when they struggle to believe in themselves. Because we want to help individuals grow, heal, overcome obstacles, and become the best versions of themselves while finding success in all areas of their lives.

But remember: we can’t pour from an empty cup 💗

Give yourself grace on the hard days. Celebrate the little victories, acknowledge the weight you carry, and remember that you deserve the same compassion you so freely give to others.

And above all, ALWAYS make time for yourself and your own self-care. You matter, too 🫶🏻

🤍 Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

As a social worker, I am passionate about raising awareness surrounding mental illness and the many mental health challenges individuals face every day. During the month of May, however, the world comes together to shine an even brighter light on these very real experiences and to support those who are struggling.

For the past 13 years, I have personally struggled with anxiety and depression, in addition to surviving sexual abuse and navigating the effects of trauma. Throughout that time, I have engaged in self-injurious behaviors, specifically cutting, and have survived three suicide attempts.

Sharing this is not easy, but it is important. Mental health challenges do not discriminate, and no one should feel ashamed to seek support.

If you are currently struggling with your mental health or facing challenges that are impacting your daily functioning, here are a few steps that may help:

✨ Seek individual therapy, which can be tailored to your specific needs, diagnosis, or preferred therapeutic modality
✨ Engage in hobbies, activities, and meaningful time with supportive friends or family members
✨ Explore local PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) or IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) options that provide group therapy, individual therapy, and medication management

Please remember: you are not alone, and your life matters. Reaching out for help is never a setback or a failure — it is a sign of strength. There are professionals and support systems ready to help you through difficult moments 🫶🏻
