POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Great evening at the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) Baton Rouge Chapter Banquet last night!

It was wonderful to see so many friends and supporters come together for a great cause.

Louisiana’s coast and fisheries are among our state’s greatest treasures. Protecting these resources is essential to preserving our economy, our outdoor heritage, and the traditions we pass down to future generations.

As a state legislator, I appreciate the work CCA Louisiana does to advocate for our fisheries, restore coastal habitats, support conservation efforts, and educate the next generation of outdoorsmen and women.

Thank you to the CCA Baton Rouge Chapter, its leadership, volunteers, and sponsors for another outstanding event!

I was glad to join Rep. @emilychenevert to discuss legislation addressing concerns raised by private schools.

After hearing from local schools and families, we worked together to address unintended consequences and find a practical solution moving forward.

I’m grateful for Sen. @bethsmizell leadership and for the local input that helped move this solution forward. #lagov #lalege #education

Insurance rates. Legal reform. Business growth.
Louisiana lawmakers say building a stronger business climate takes a bigger approach. Insurance costs remain a top concern. Legal reform remains part of the conversation. Leaders say more work remains as the state looks to attract business investment and improve long-term growth.

Two weeks ago, @elizcphillips traveled to Baton Rouge to fight for Trey’s Law in the Louisiana House. As of Tuesday, SB 185 has PASSED the #LALege UNANIMOUSLY and is headed to @govjefflandry’s desk.

“The evil practice of silencing children who have endured the unimaginable must end in Louisiana this session.” - Elizabeth Phillips

The misuse of NDAs in Louisiana’s civil courts is now in sight thanks to the many survivors and advocates who have shown up for this common-sense child protection bill. This makes seven U.S. states that are standing with survivors over silence as an urgent matter of public safety!

It’s official: Trey’s Law has PASSED the Louisiana legislature after a UNANIMOUS House Floor vote – and now heads to @govjefflandry’s desk!

We are grateful to our bill author, Sen. Thomas Pressly and House sponsor Rep. Emily Chenevert for championing this significant step towards justice and transparency for standing firm on protecting victims’ voices through ending the misuse of NDAs in Louisiana’s civil courts.

SB 185 gives Louisiana victims their voices back by rendering NDAs void and unenforceable in civil settlements related to child sexual abuse and trafficking. An abused child’s silence should have never been for sale!
