National Youth Choir 2026 🎶

This post is a bit late! What a joy it’s been working with the National Youth Choir (UK) this year, from the EPA Showcase in February, to section leading on a 9-15 choir course, to outreach through the Sing! project.

Every time I work with this organisation I meet incredible people, learn so much, and am completely bowled over by the young people involved. Such a privilege to be part of the NYC family.

The EPA scheme is open for applications now – it was a brilliant experience, and I can’t recommend it enough. Apply, apply, apply!

Topped off with Handel's Hallelujah chorus, this exciting and original concept created by Gabrieli Artistic Director Paul McCreesh will see thousands of young singers perform alongside professional musicians in a celebration of Christmas and some of Handel's greatest music.

"The wall of sound that the massed choir produces, especially in the opening and closing choruses, is completely thrilling. Everyone sings with total commitment and joy and leaves nothing behind, knowing that this is the culmination of everything they have achieved on the course. Ranging in age from 11 to 19, each and every one them should feel a huge sense of pride to what they have achieved, not just in the final performance but over the course of the last incredible week. We respect their talents and honour them by being seriously demanding while they are with us. We are shamelessly ambitious about what young people can achieve, and yet again this week they have proved to us and, more importantly, to themselves, that the sky is the limit."

These are the words of our wonderful Alto Vocal Coach, David Clegg, from our final and much-loved newsletter series documenting Gabrieli Roar's 2026 Summer Residential!

Last week at Ely Cathedral young singers from across the country saw a sea of standing ovations for their performance of Handel's epic biblical oratorio, Saul. In just six days, they emerged from our Summer Residential course as musicians with an ability to sing alongside professionals. Young people are capable of incredible and inspiring things. 🧡

They are so looking forward to welcoming our young singers on Friday, where Gabrieli Roar will begin their journey of rehearsing and performing Handel's epic oratorio, Saul.

There are still some tickets left to see their performance of Saul at Ely Cathedral! Link in bio to get yours now, before its too late 👆
