I’ve said for a very long time I think saddle fitters should offer different stirrups to try as the impact foot and ankle mobility has on the riders whole leg and hip should not be underestimated. These videos are 10 days apart, Emily had a horrific leg break a few months ago and she has worked so so hard to get to this stage. She comes 3 times per week for mechanical horse, Pilates and strength training sessions. Today we tried a pair of flexon stirrups, and whilst the huge improvement in the leg function and stability comes from the off horse work, I’m super impressed with the support the different stirrups gave her. It really does take a village to achieve results and this was another step forwards towards getting back on a real horse. I am not endorsed by flexon in any way, but after my first use of them, I’m sold! #riderrehab #stirrups #balance #performance

Friday ➡️ Monday. Demonstrating the progress ↗️ it’s amazing what you can achieve when you put the work in. Emily fully snapped her femur just above the knee around 4.5 months ago. The brain disassociated the leg from the body and that’s been one of the hardest things to overcome, getting the brain to realise the leg is still attached and it does need to send signals to it to make it work! Combined with the screws in the knee, the pain has been horrific for em. She’s shown up consistently, listening to every bit of advice from her team (apart from slowing down 🤣) increasing what we do gradually, with the aim of getting back on the horse. My exercise program revolves around this and I’m so incredibly proud of her progress. My back is also rather relieved the leg is starting to be able to support itself 🤪 keep going wattsy, you’re doing amazing 🤩 #rehab #ridinggoals #riderperformance #hardwork @emilywattsequestrian
