Late on a Sunday night, as I was winding yarn from two different yarn dyers, a question returned to me that I have been meaning to ask the masses.

Do you prefer more or fewer ties holding your skeins together?

The dawn of this question stems from me overhearing two separate conversations about two years apart at two separate yarns shops, one located in the PNW and the other in the Midwest. In one conversation the yarn shop owner insisted that a person could tell if a yarn dyer was a good one by the number of ties in the skein, her opinion was that the more ties the better. In the other yarn shop, the consensus was the other way around, less was more.

I would like to point out that I don’t think the number yarn tie makes you a better yarn dyer or (k)not. I know there are probably plenty of good reasons for adding more ties or for removing the ties, such as better photos.

Chime in your opinions! Maker’s and dyer’s perspectives welcome! I personally like more ties because I repurpose them! They’re like little extra goodies!

Yarns are from @achickthatknitz and @cesiumyarn (in no particular order of appearance and not of the folks I heard such strong opinions from 🤣)

Also P.S. this song is called Silver Spoons and was written by my friend @larrissamusic who happens to also be singing it.

Also, also, extra Postscript also - @eminent_knits is the brilliant mind behind the coat hanger yarn swift!

She might not be beautiful, but boy is she functional.

I gave my swift to one of the ladies in the lace guild and I’ve been waiting until @dfwfiberfest to buy a new one. In the meantime, this binder clips on coat hangers in a jar method that I learned from the genius of a fiber artist @eminent_knits will do the trick!

I'm about to join for the body, so this is the last time that I can lay my #EltonPullover out like this! I was second guessing my yarn pairing just before I started, but I'm loving how they look together 💜

Just a couple of rows left on this project, and then I can no longer admire my @eminent_knits stitch marker with my @yeahyeahyarn 😿

But I can't wait to wear my #PillarsOfSimpliciTee 😄 @perfectlyknotted

I'm not quite at the "peaks" yet 😂 but this is my progress so far for the #cozypeaksandcheekskal
I'm making the #BraidedBralette by @knitatude. I've been admiring her patterns for the last couple of years, they've been a huge motivation to get me to learn to knit!

I'm knitting this in Keepsake Fibre Co. Essence Merino from @spotlightstores and I'm living that it matches my needles and @eminent_knits stitch marker 💜
