This one is a real throwback, but an absolute fave. Joey hasnt graduated high school yet Emma? 🤣🫣 The best always take the longest to share because I get too indecisive with all my faves!

13- 16th December Beachport. Here we stayed with friends whom we had met on the Ningaloo, Mandie and Slim (turns out no one knows his real name🤣). One of the things we are learning to do on the road is saying “YES” to hospitality. It is not always comfortable for us, but this is a prime example of why you should say ‘Yes’. When we first met Slim, Mandie, Clint, Emma and the family, we had pulled into Lagoon late one afternoon, after a full day in transit, and we were warmly and promptly invited to join them for dinner of freshly caught fish which Slim was cooking up. When we turned up at their place almost 6 months later, it was like no time had passed. We were welcomed with open arms, and although earlier in the day and better prepared, we were again instructed to join them for dinner. Slim is a commercial lobster fisherman, which was part of reason for visiting too as he had promised me a ride when he was going out fishing. Unfortunately, when we arrived they were having premium fishing conditions but they could not sell their lobster for one reason or another. This meant that despite not fishing for lobster, he made himself and his boat available to me, and later on, the family, to go fishing. Firstly, he took me deep sea fishing one morning. We caught a few things and I had a great morning. I hope that the copious amount of spewing I did off the side of the boat won’t stop me from getting an invite next time we are in the area. The morning that he de-registered his boat and took the whole family out will be one that Atticus, in particular, will remember for many years to come as he managed to catch a shark. He was absolutely delighted. We also enjoyed an evening down on the beach where he showed me how to dive, catch and cook abalone, and how to gather and prepare periwinkles, and we caught a sneaky octopus which we took home for a friend. We left Beachport feeling blessed beyond measure.
