For Your GRAMMY® Consideration: MANON! Original Cast Recording “Heartbeat Opera [is] an enterprise that, while small and still young, has already contributed more to opera’s vitality than most major American companies.” -Joshua Barone, The New York Times The debut music release from Heartbeat Opera, a group that “provides vigorous proof that opera is nowhere near dead” (Classical Voice North America), MANON! transforms Jules Massenet’s classic tale of love, glamour, and reinvention into a dazzling new musical theatre-infused adaptation. Featuring a saucy new English-language libretto by Jacob Ashworth and Obie Award winner Rory Pelsue and luscious new arrangements by Dan Schlosberg, who conducts from the piano, this Original Cast Recording preserves Heartbeat Opera’s “rampantly inventive” (The New York Times) and “categorically imaginative” (The New Yorker) approach to classic opera for the first time ever. Recorded with Lexicon Classics at the legendary Power Station studios, MANON! is available now!

Got my NYC intake for this season for the best reason! It was a wonderful experience getting to workshop a new opera “Kiss, Marry, Visa” by @musicwakim and @bylaurabarati under the direction of the incredible #GeorgeAbud, with a fabulous cast and amazing artistic team @alinesalloum13 @danielschlosberg @jklux @nourhabbash! I got to play the role of a Lebanese woman for the first time ever! I also was hosted by one of the kindest people I have ever met for my stay. Huge thanks to Dr. Nassrin Zahedi for welcoming me into her home and being the best host ever. I made beautiful new friends in the project and reconnected with old ones. What a privilege it is to do this! 📸 @lucaseytchison

The @heartbeat_opera MANON! Original cast recording is now available wherever you listen to music!!!! Link in bio!! I’m obsessed with musicals and I’m obsessed with Opera Comique and I’m obsessed with cast recordings and I hope this album is a credit to all three forms! As always @nwalks posted about how special it was to make this album with far more grace and humor than I can muster in an Instagram caption…..but basically ditto to everything she wrote…..I have intense gratitude to all of the singers, musicians, and engineers who worked on the album, and I owe a deep bow of friendship to Jacob Ashworth who believed that we could be truest to the spirit of this piece by doing it in a brand new way! [And yes I’m posting about the MANON! album and the CIRCLE JERK book on the same day because they have the same release day and because they are both about love and validation and humiliation and money….]
