Last week I got to film some of Perth’s best speakers at Murdoch University

The room had that energy you can’t fake. People leaning in, taking notes, staying back after to keep the conversation going!!!!

Great job team!

Thank you @emmagibbens for this amazing testimonial!

One of the best things someone can say to me is that bringing me on board gave them back their decision making capacity. Not just time in their day - actual headspace.

It's easy to think of business support as just ticking boxes. But most of what I do sits underneath that, triaging what actually needs attention, making calls on the 'small stuff' so it doesn't create a bottleneck.

"She didn't just take the admin off my plate, she gave me back the headspace to actually think."

Small business owners already know this. The tasks are one thing. The mental load is the real thing.

The possibilities were palpable on day 2 of the Regional Arts Network gathering hosted by RAWA at Mandoon Estate.

It was an honour to MC the day which started with envisioning messages from RAWA CEO Pilar Kasat and FACET Chair Ryan Mossny. 🙌🏼

For half the day we were joined by members of FACET (Forum for Advocacy for Cultural and Ecotourism) for a vibrant and hopefully productive networking event. We heard from organisations involved in cultural tourism doing amazing work including:
- Mandurah Visitors Centre who talked about the FORM-led Giants of Mandurah project and the visitors they attract, - Fiona Sinclair from Southern Forest Arts whose beautiful forest sculptures are so much more than an attraction but are having an impact connecting with visitors emotions
- Andrew Bowman-Bright from North Midlands Project - revitalising their region through engaging the community
- Monique from Hidden detours and the wonderful Steve Jacobs from In Culture Tours… their collaboration is exciting and Steve gave a warm welcome to country.

Great conversations, laughter and authentic connections were made.

The second half of the day we heard about funding, new frameworks and had a lively end reframing some of the challenges facing regional arts in Australia.

Vibrant, warm and so many existing projects and exciting possibilities for the regional arts and cultural and ecotourism communities!
🙏🏼☀️
An amazing 2 days!

Each year when I stop to reflect on my highs, lows and goals, the one thing that is consistent is how grateful I am to have such a beautiful, wonderful friends.

33 was my favorite birthday yet, and one of those rare nights that I felt beautiful 🌙

In an age when we can cross oceans with near-uninterrupted internet access and, in less than 24 hours, beam snapshots from some remote corner of the Earth to someone scrolling on the subway or in a waiting room, it’s quite easy to take the miracle of long-distance travel for granted.

Indonesia sits close to New York’s antipode, the point on the exact opposite side of the world from another. It’s somewhere in the Indian Ocean near Perth, the closest major city and home to one of my dearest friends, @emmagibbens. For the past four years, we’ve been so fortunate to meet up once each year, in Duluth, Tokyo, New York, and now Bali. When the people you love are scattered across continents—some literally half a world away—screens just don’t cut it, even if you can regularly make AM/PM Zoom calls with a 12-hour time difference. Nothing compares to that moment when you reunite in an arrivals terminal ready to begin a new adventure.

This year, I’m grateful for friendship that endures time zones and jet lag, for rich cultures and landscapes that reveal new dimensions to being alive, and for the opportunity to experience it all anywhere on the planet.

Have you ever been so sure you were doing the right thing… and then later realised it wasn’t actually right for you at all?

Getting to know yourself isn’t tidy - it’s messy and uncomfortable, and sometimes the hardest part is noticing the places you’ve been quietly lying to yourself ….without meaning to 🫣

We all build stories that feel safer than the truth, soften things so they don’t hurt as much, and hold onto a version of reality that looks fine on the outside but just doesn’t sit right on the inside.

In this week’s episode of The Connection Podcast, I’m chatting with Emma Gibbens, a speaker, author and mentor who has this rare gift of helping people say the things they usually avoid.
We talk about what it actually takes to look at your own stories honestly, and why even the most self-aware, high-functioning people still find themselves stuck in the same patterns!

We explore how easy it is to numb, distract or overthink your way through life instead of listening to what your body has been trying to say all along… and what actually creates the clarity you’ve been trying to think your way into.

Real honesty isn’t about calling yourself out? It’s about coming back to yourself ❤️‍🔥
