The darkest places known to man are not the blackness of the Mariana Trench or the emptiness of outer space but rather the pain inflicted on oneself voluntarily. In the quiet hours when there is no one around and the voice in your head begs you to quit, that is as dark as it gets.

This weekend many people found themselves in the abyss but all returned victorious in one way or another. For some people it was just attempting the challenge. For others it was completing on tired or broken legs.

I couldn’t be prouder of the efforts The Clique put in this weekend.

Big thanks to @studioonedxb for being outstanding hosts this weekend. And to @theirishvillagedubai for the post run wets. Another unforgettable weekend.

The 4x4x48 challenge isn’t just about running—it’s about pushing limits, leading with purpose, and building resilience. For the fifth year, Ty and I had the honour of leading 20+ incredible individuals through this gruelling test: 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. Each year brings new lessons, but leadership, courage, and collective determination remain central.

Leadership in a challenge like this goes beyond logistics. It means making tough decisions, having honest conversations, and sometimes being the villain for the greater good. Whether it’s adjusting pace to keep the group together or encouraging someone to dig deep when they want to quit, good leadership prioritises what’s right over what’s easy. It’s not always popular, but it’s essential.

One key lesson stood out for the group: being fit and strong doesn’t exempt you from ensuring others succeed. In a group challenge like this, teamwork often means holding back to minimise gaps and keep the team united. Slowing down isn’t a weakness—it’s the essence of teamwork. This wasn’t just a personal challenge; it was a collective one. We run for more than ourselves.

This year, we ran for Movember, supporting men’s mental health, and Ty’s recovery fund. Every blister, late-night run, and moment of exhaustion symbolised a greater fight for awareness and change.

Crossing the final mile wasn’t just about relief—it was pride. Pride in the team’s grit, the power of unity, and the realisation that 99% of problems have solutions if you have the courage to face them. This challenge reminded me why we do this—not for recognition, but to inspire, serve, and reveal our limitless potential.

Big thanks @tylanjw for all the effort you put in to make this happen. A huge congrats to everyone that had the courage to start, regardless of whether you finished or not, you should all be proud.

DMC 4x4x48 2024

Phew! Another one in the bag ⚡️🤘🏽

This event is so important to us. It’s an affirmation of personal ability, just a reminder to yourself that you’re a savage and that you’re capable of anything. It’s the DMC event of the year, cementing our community, making new friends and building bonds. It is for 2 great causes, Movember men’s health charity and for Ty, both at the very essence of DMC.

It’s about camaraderie, valuable human interaction, and team work. It’s about mutual support, being proactive, helping out, being lighthearted when you’re feeling down, and pulling others up when they need a hand - on and off the tarmac.

It’s been an honour to share the pavements with you all, and we hope that you’ll join us again next year.

Here’s to breaking barriers, exploiting potential, fighting demons, speaking the truth, and witnessing character. Cheers 🍻.

Thank you to everyone who donated and supported, over $3000 was raised for Movember and over $4000 for Ty’s recovery.

Thank yous:
