My cup overfloweth, I’m so proud that the new V.V. Lightbody album, 𝓟𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓸𝓭 𝓟𝓲𝓮𝓬𝓮, is out in the world, and so proud of Vivian for all of the soul and brilliance and blood-sweat-tears she put into it. It takes a village to make an album, and also, sometimes, it takes an uncompromising and unique artistic vision and drive emanating from one person to see it through — to conjure something new out of that collaboration.

This is a deeply rewarding record on every level: lyrical humanity, grooves that soothe and excite, ear candy from unexpected corners, mystery sparked by Viv’s truly weird and fresh sense of harmony, songs that create little/big worlds of feeling. Viv worked so hard to honor each of these elements and I am so proud to hear them shine through.

Personally speaking, I also grew a lot as a bass player (and therefore, musician) during this process because Viv really pushed all of these parts & pockets to serve the songs as deeply as they could. That is a true gift.

Thank you Viv, I love you and I love this album and I am so proud of you and honored to be a part of it.

My time in Maine is always over too soon. Thank you to @bimfstagram for hosting @ensembledalniente and to the brilliant composer fellows that we worked with. And heck yeah to the “manager’s special” rental car that turned out to be a Chevy Silverado… 🤠 being a touring musician is so damn funny sometimes… An absolutely perfect weekend.
