Happy Birthday, Emily! ❤️ You are the most incredible wife and mom, and I’m so thankful I get to do life with you. I’m so proud of how hard you’ve worked this past year to build your business while being an amazing mom to our son.

Your love for Jesus and His people inspires me every day. Your work ethic, faithfulness, and the way you love our family continually push me to be a better husband, dad, and man.

Tomorrow is my last Sunday at Discover Life Church. ❤️

It’s hard to put into words what the last 8 years have meant to me and my family. We will forever be grateful for the people, the relationships, the life change, and the memories we’ve made along the way.

I’m so thankful for every person who has prayed for us, encouraged us, served alongside us, believed in us, and allowed us to be a part of their lives. We’ve laughed together, cried together, celebrated together, walked through hard seasons together, and most importantly, watched God do what only He can do!

It has been such an honor to play a part in building Discover Life and helping build our Viera campus. There is something incredibly special about watching a vision become a reality and seeing a church family grow right in front of your eyes. I’ll always be proud of what we’ve built together.

And I couldn’t be more proud of our Viera Campus team. The best thing about what we’re leaving behind isn’t a building, it’s the incredible people who are carrying the vision forward. I have so much confidence in this team, and I truly believe the best days are still ahead for Discover Life Church. 🙌

As Emily and I close this chapter and prepare for the next one, there are definitely a lot of emotions. But more than anything, there is gratitude. Gratitude for where God has brought us, gratitude for the people He allowed us to do life with, and excitement for what He has ahead.

Thank you, Discover Life, for an incredible 8 years. We love you, we’re thankful for you, and we’ll always be cheering you on!

As a Christian business owner, this is a tension I feel.

I see all the stuff on Insta about hustling & grinding.

I know cost of living is ridiculous and many of us need a side job to make ends meet.

I get that it’s now just part of social media culture. Everyone is selling something—myself included.🤷‍♀️

But what I can’t get behind?

Disregarding generosity & being a good neighbor because we’ve been taught to monetize every skill & hour we have available.

There has to be a line between doing something to make income vs. doing something because we want to be kind.

Should you expect to be paid for a service you do from your business? Yes.

Should you expect your friend to pay you for helping them move from one house to the other? In my opinion, no.

While we’re all out here trying to build businesses, let’s not forget that the most important thing we’ll ever build is the Kingdom—and it’s the kindness of God (not a $17 guide) that leads people to repentance.

And while we’re training the next generation to pursue side hustles, let’s make sure we’re training them to pursue a life of generosity and kindness more.

Am I perfect at this? No.

Do I still sell services and resources as a part of my business? Of course. It’s my income.

But I also want to be attentive to the Holy Spirit and willing to be generous when He says “Give that person a discount” or “Help them for free.”

Happy Mother’s Day, Emily! I remember early on in our relationship how you told me you desired to be a mother, and watching you live out that calling over the last year has brought me so much joy. You are the most loving, patient, hardworking, and selfless mom to our son. William is so blessed to have you as his mom, and I’m so grateful to do life alongside you. Our home is better, our family is stronger, and our lives are greater with you in it! William and I love you so much!

What stage of life am I in? ⤵️

I’m in the year after giving birth for the first time where I’m rediscovering who I am, what kind of mom/wife I want to be, and what dreams I don’t want to put on the back burner anymore.

I’m trying to prioritize activity and presence so I can help businesses through @emilygreenvirtualassistant but not at the expense of my family, my home, & my personal wellness.

This stage of life has been a rollercoaster—but I am feeling like myself again. And I am grateful.🤍

To all the moms & business boss ladies who are figuring out what life looks like “now”…I’m with you.🤍

I didn’t choose to work from home so I could spend all day in our home office or because I was “lazy” and wanted to work from the couch.

I chose to work from home because I wanted as much time as possible with my son at this age.🤍

I know not everyone feels this way, and I know not everyone is able to live this way—so I am THANKFUL for the ability to have a random day of the week look like this.

And I’m thankful for a business that allows me to make income while also helping other moms out there have days that look like this too.🫶

Seriously ⤵️

Why would we want to spend our time doing anything OTHER than what God created us to do?

Now, I may have been a little too bold with the “time wasted” statement—I actually believe that nothing is wasted, even time spent doing things other than our God-given purpose. God can use everything for good for those who love Him & are called (Romans 8:28).

But what I meant was this:

Time spent doing things other than what God created you to do is time that could have been spent in purpose.

We all, as believers, share purpose.

We share the purpose to love God and love people.
We share the purpose to serve.
We share the purpose to make disciples.

But there are parts of your purpose that are unique to YOU—so if you’re not doing your purpose, then who is?

No one else has your calling.
No one else has your purpose.
No one else has the vision God has given you.

So why spend time doing anything else?

Build that business.
Go on that missions trip.
Write that book.
Start that podcast.

I guarantee it won’t be a waste of time.⭐️
