POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

One of the greatest privileges of my work is witnessing what happens when people stop trying to fix themselves and begin learning how to relate to themselves with compassion.

Recently, I joined David Polidi @empowered.through.compassion for a beautiful conversation exploring many of the themes that sit at the heart of my work and my book You Have Always Been Enough.

We spoke about self-compassion, Internal Family Systems (IFS), nervous system healing, the wisdom of the body, and why so many of us carry the painful belief that we are somehow not enough.

One of the things I have come to believe deeply is that healing isn’t about becoming someone different. It’s about building a relationship with the parts of ourselves that have been carrying pain, fear, shame or protection for so long.
When we learn to listen inwardly with curiosity rather than judgement, something begins to soften.

We discover that beneath the anxiety, the perfectionism, the self-doubt and the protective patterns, there is a deeper truth waiting for us.
A truth that has always been there.

That we are worthy.
That we are lovable.
That we have always been enough.

Thank you, David, for such a thoughtful and heartfelt conversation.
If you’ve listened, I’d love to hear what resonated most with you.

With love,
Soulla x

David Polidi
“IFS informed EMDR: The Power of Naming Our Pain”
April 29th 2025 Episode 200
~The Jan Broberg Show~

Today Jan is joined by David Polidi, a dedicated trauma therapist and social worker who blends compassion with clinical expertise. Through his practice Empowered Through Compassion, David guides adults and couples using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR therapy—two powerful approaches for trauma recovery. A passionate advocate for self-healing, he’s also co-authoring *IFS-Informed EMDR* (2025/26), a collaborative book featuring insights from 20+ therapy experts.
Jan and Dave’s conversation explores how trauma reshapes identity, beginning with David’s own family story about names and generational legacy. They discuss his transition from school counseling (where systemic barriers limited trauma work) to private practice, where he now helps clients reprocess pain through EMDR and IFS. David breaks down these modalities: how EMDR rewires traumatic memories, and how IFS teaches us to listen to our inner ‘parts’ without judgment.
They also tackle harder truths—how schools fail traumatized kids, why the justice system retraumatizes survivors, and how healing requires both individual work and community support. Throughout, David emphasizes hope: that self-energy (marked by qualities like courage and compassion) can help survivors reclaim wholeness.

Let’s talk personalization. While I love making my shadowboxes and using my cardstock (my favorite cardstock is from @ashleeyfalco 😉), I also love adding some personalization. This project is for my husband’s podcast @empowered.through.compassion, so it’s very dear to me. This reel shows how I use vinyl to add that special touch to the project. 🦋☀️❤️ #cricutprojects #cricutmade #diyhomedecor #diypapercrafts #diycraft #personalization #smallbuisness
