For the first time in a long time, I’m feeling hopeful.
Even before the pandemic, my mental health was a struggle. Insomnia, anxiety, struggling to get things done or focus, overwhelmed with life. This week I finally got the diagnosis that makes so much of my internal world make sense : Inattentive ADHD. None of friends who know me really well are surprised and I’m not either - but I finally feel like I have the words to communicate what I’m struggling with and I’m learning that I’m not just lazy or bad at adulting. I’m finally equipped to figure out what my brain needs. I’ve been in a fog for so long. While I firmly believe we are all more than what we might be diagnosed with - I was just missing this key piece of knowledge about what my brain was trying to tell me and I’m so grateful that I know now! For the longest time I’ve felt like I was ready for a breakthrough. I don’t think I expected it to be this but I believe now that this what I’ve been waiting for. I’m ready now.
It’s never too late.

honoring this earthly dwelling place - this body - simply because she is mine. neither bad nor good - but because I’ve finally learned to listen to what she tries to tell me. she tells me when i need to slow down, to stop, to begin again. i can honestly say that I’ve only begun learning how to listen to the messages my body has been trying to tell me for the past 37 years. i still have a long way to go but I’m grateful to be slowly plodding along the path.
thank you to my dearest @ashleykelemen whose friendship continues to guide me along the road and whose beautiful photos remind me of how worthy all bodies are to be captured and celebrated 🤍

the past few weeks, sewing and making clothing out of old linens and quilts and tablecloths and dreaming up designs i don’t even know how to accomplish but trying anyways and sometimes failing and sometimes succeeding and making making making… I have felt most in touch with my truest self. My real honest to goodness core. And I’m grateful that i finally just did the damn thing - I’ve wanted to make my own clothes since the day I dressed my first Barbie. I don’t know why the hell i waited so long but that’s a common theme in my life. I move at my own pace. And i think probably i had to figure out how to heal a little from some trauma first - people pleasing, needing to be always making money and having a successful business - which I’ve done with photography for the past 10 years- which this pandemic and pregnancy basically made impossible this past year. This post is as long and rambling and this journey. I appreciate you all for being witness to both. Your encouragement along the way has been a blessing amidst the trials and it feels like it’s finally time to start blooming. 🌼

some good things this week :
seeing @ashleykelemen and @lindsayrobinson_ca !! eating outside! living in new waffle pajamas pants from @noblecarriage. presents of gold. finding so much beauty blooming in my neighborhood and going on daily walks again.
lastly and most importantly i felt like dancing today. enjoy this video of me shaking my mom bod. I can’t remember the last time i felt like dancing. it’s really been a while.
