Thanks to everyone who has checked in about my Dad’s place at Wye. He is safe and sound on the hill. Feeling for the special community around us, particularly Shaun and team at the cafe and all the campers whose holidays came to an abrupt and scary end. The Wye River community is strong, and will get through it. Climate warming is here, time to call out politicians and all who get in the way of immediate climate action. The time to use your voice is now. Sending love to all. Tones xo

My heart is utterly broken by the ongoing blockade, systematic starvation and killing of the Palestinian people as well as impunity with which the Israeli government seems to be acting.

While I full heartedly condemn the terrorist attack on October 7th — I also condemn the ongoing occupation of Palestine and the utter disregard for all humanity we have seen unfold since. As a person who is half Jewish, I want to yell from the rooftops that after the Holocaust we said “NEVER AGAIN!” — and yet here we are.

In an effort to make a small contribution to the movement to free Palestine and end this abhorrent violence I want to pull together a creative fundraiser and I am looking for collaborators who feel similarly motivated by love and care for all of humanity. I am looking for a supportive, kind and motivated group of humans who want to raise some $ and amplify the voices of Palestinians in a creative way. 100% of any profits raised to go to trustworthy orgs working on the ground in and for Palestine. The form of this project will be solidified together, in collaboration. Message me if you are interested in getting involved. And please share this initiative.x Olivia

Text from the second tile:

I am looking for other creatives, filmmakers, artists, campaigners, writers, big hearted folks who want to join me in a creative movement to raise awareness and funds for Palestine. You don’t have to be a self-describing ‘creative’ to join – would love to bring a varied skillset together for this.

Contemplating an international print fundraiser mixed with storytelling + advocacy.

We will also be looking to link up with others with big platforms to amplify the messaging and collaborate with other orgs already working in this space.

Our project / fundraiser will be solidified together.

No big egos, no drama, just lots of love, creativity and heart. Raising funds and advocating for a permanent ceasefire, a two-state solution, end of the blockade, end of the starvation and also release of hostages. We stand for the rights of ALL to a healthy, peaceful, safe life. (This will be finessed together)

DM me if interested in joining. You can be located anywhere in the world. 💗

Who’s going to save the world? WELA women! 💪🏽👯‍♀️💛

A few weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of joining 23 women from across the continent for our first retreat, as part of @we_are_wela’s 2024 Women in Environmental Leadership cohort 👯‍♀️

The week was a timely reminder of the passion, talent, commitment and grit that fuels so many women within the environmental space, which like many aspects of our world, is tainted by patriarchy, colonialism and sexism.

Learning about, and from, facilitators and peers through storytelling, song and over soulful meals has recharged my batteries, and left with me with tangible actions to keep fighting the good fight 🌎 in a more empathetic, sustainable and appreciate way 💚

Here’s just a few snippets from our week on Darug and Gundungurra Country 💃➡️🥙

These days it takes something extra special to get me out teaching, and this is one of those occasions. Excited to team up with the always affable and very talented potter and teacher @studioenki from @byronschoolofclay to create a special evening of mindfulness and clay. Info below. Bookings via the @byronschoolofclay website.

And yes, you do get to use a wheel! Ghost anyone?!

————

Join Emily and Nick for a fun and connected mindfulness meditation practice that will leave you steady, prepped and ready to create your own magic at the wheel. No prior meditation experience necessary.

When we get to the wheel Nick will take you through a 2 hour throwing lesson, teaching you how to prepare and centre the clay, and create bowl forms on the wheel. You can make as many pots as you like, and choose your favourite two to be glazed and fired!

Pottery is a meditative craft, and with the stillness that mindfulness provides we can be more present with the clay, responsive in the moment, and awake to the joy of experience in our bodies.

Last night was a tough night for many as rain battered houses up here in the Northern Rivers, with many evacuating for the second time in just a month. Here is the first in a series of quick evidence-based tools you can use to calm your nervous system whenever needed.
