What a joy these past 4 weeks have been!

We had the pleasure of welcoming students from MINDS to Play.Able, hosting 8 classes every week. Each session was a chance to learn through play:

🎭 Dramatic play: Dressing up in our costumes, students explored new roles and stories, building imagination and self-expression.

🛒 Role-play: In our kitchen and grocery store sets, they practised everyday life skills like cooking, shopping and taking turns, while growing their language and social skills along the way.

🧩 Cognitive toys: Puzzles and shape sorters supported problem-solving, focus and hand-eye coordination.

🧱 Construction play: Building with blocks helped develop fine motor skills, spatial awareness and planning.

🔬 STEM exploration: Our free-standing STEM kit sparked curiosity as students experimented and discovered how things work through hands-on discovery.

Thank you, MINDS, and to the teachers and caregivers who joined us, for spending these weeks with us. 💜

Some days feel simple in the moment, but stay with you long after 🥰

Spending the day with the K2s from Lorna Whiston at West Coast Park using our communication boards was one of those moments for us.

There were so many little moments that made us smile such as watching them try something new, learn the ABCs in sign language, encourage their friends and slowly find new ways to connect with one another.

What stayed with us most was how open-hearted they were. Children have such a beautiful way of meeting new experiences with curiosity, kindness and very little judgement.

It was just a morning out together, but it reminded us that inclusion often begins in these small, everyday moments when we notice one another, make space, and choose to connect 🌈

If you’re at West Coast Park, keep a lookout for our communication boards and give them a try with your little ones too and let us know what you think!

🏸✨ Play.Able: Unified Play & Grow: Badminton Session 2!

We kicked off our second session with some fun warm-ups, followed by practicing our serving skills using paper balls at first, then moving on to shuttlecocks! 🎯🏸 We also played a fun colour-calling game where everyone had to pick up the correct coloured shuttlecock when it was called out! 🌈

It was a session filled with laughter, energy, and learning as we continued to build our badminton skills together! 💪😆

Thank you to our families for participating in our second badminton session, @amplitudeu trainers for being wonderful teachers, @enablingvillage for the venue and the Enabling Sports Fund for supporting this project! See you at our next session! ✨

Guess what… 🥹 We’re so excited to finally share something that has been close to our hearts for a very long time.

After almost three years of planning and working together with 𝗡𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗚 𝗘𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, our 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 were officially installed at 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟴 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿!

The boards were created to make communication more accessible during play, especially for children and individuals who may communicate differently. Using pictures and symbols, they can express what they want, make choices, share how they feel and take part more meaningfully in play.

To mark the launch, we invited the 𝗞𝟮𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗮 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. We spent the morning talking about inclusion, different ways of communicating and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and the children even learnt the ABCs in sign language and tried spelling their own names 🖐🏻

It was such a meaningful morning seeing how naturally curious and open children can be when given the chance to understand that communication looks different for everyone and that inclusion can be as simple as slowing down, noticing, using another way to communicate and making space for someone else to join in.

If you’re visiting West Coast Park, do look out for the boards and try them with your little ones too: point to the symbols, make choices together or use them to start a conversation.

We hope these boards become more than just a communication tool. We hope they help all individuals feel seen, heard and included in the simple joy of play 🤍

[Stronger Pathways for Persons with Disabilities: From School to Work and Beyond]

Inclusion does not happen by accident. It begins with the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and contribute, and the conviction to turn that belief into action.

At the Inclusive Lifelong Learning Festival, I shared how we are building a lifelong support system for persons with disabilities — from their school years, through further education and into employment.

@moesingapore and SGenable are committed to continue strengthening support for students with disabilities, including through earlier work exposure & job tasters, access to job coaches, transition planning beyond school, expansion of SG Enable’s Sector Train-and-Place Programme and the extension of its training grant for selected CET courses.

I’m grateful that our employers, training partners, caregivers and service providers are journeying with us in this work. Together, we will build a Singapore where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive.

Great to see barista Caleb during my visit to the Enabling Village today. He made me a customised latte — no sugar, but with a special touch: served in a cup with a portrait of himself.

The coffee was good, but seeing Caleb again after so many years, and knowing that he’s doing well and continuing to hone his craft, was even better.

A day filled with learning, connection and a little kindness! 💙🧡

We had a wonderful time at SG Enable’s Inclusive Lifelong Learning Festival 2026, connecting with participants, caregivers, educators and fellow community partners!

Through fun and interactive activities, we brought our work in communication, active listening and mental wellbeing to life, while sharing little moments of encouragement and kindness along the way.

Beyond the activities, it was the conversations, smiles and meaningful connections that made the day special. ✨

A big thank you to @enablingvillage for bringing the community together, and to everyone who stopped by our booth!

Here’s to more opportunities to learn, connect and grow together. 💙

Study Trip to Singapore: Every Small Effort Matters in Advancing Equity

In August 2026, the ACSVAW team embarked on a study trip to Singapore. We met with various organisations, including women’s groups, educational institutions, social enterprises and so on, to exchange knowledge on eliminating gender gaps and strategies to cultivate communities. We talked about the patterns and trends of sexual violence, systemic approaches to better support vulnerable groups, and creative ways to respond to social issues.

Despite challenging circumstances, these organisations remain resilient and innovative in advancing social equity through service, advocacy, research, and education, offering valuable insights for our work in Hong Kong.
