I’m driving down to southern California on Saturday and it’s going to be over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, so I quickly realized I needed another pair of shorts. I’ve wanted to make the Enderall Sews Saturday Shorts since they came out, but it’s rarely warm enough to wear shorts in the Bay Area, so now is the time!

I found the pattern to be nicely drafted, and the instructions were easy to follow. I used a midweight linen/cotton blend and the only modifications I made were to make the front pockets a tiny bit shorter since I wanted them to end right before the hem, and I also sewed extra lines of stitching through the waistband elastic. Oh, and I didn’t add the back belt loop because I wasn’t planning to wear them with a belt. I made the size that corresponded with my hip measurement.

I would definitely recommend this pattern, it’s a great basic shorts design which was exactly what I was looking for. The rise comes right to the natural waistline so if you prefer a lower rise you would have to do some alterations. The only change I will make if I sew these again is to scoop out the back crotch curve due to the wedgie factor but that’s a me issue!

New shorts! I’ve loved this palm tree print by @missmelodymiller for @rubystarsociety forever and have been delighted for a chance to get my hands on yardage to make some shorts. Shorts pattern is the Saturday Shorts by @enderallsews . I love this pattern. They sew up easily and wear great. No notes.

Me made may repeat of @enderallsews #easaturdayshorts. Definitely need to make more of these. Collage gather top by @matchymatchysewingclub in small pieces of fabric from past projects. Floral print is a viscose from @closetcorefabric from a sundress and the blue viscose twill from a zadie jumpsuit I made for my mom. I love the selvedge of the print and enjoyed incorporating it into this top. Fun project for colour blocking and using small pieces of fabric. #collagegathertop #easaturdayshorts @calgarysews #petitesewists #memadeeveryday @sharesewover50

Me Made May and a new make! I finally made the Buckthorn tote by @noodlehead531 , and I love it! You can never go wrong with one of Anna’s patterns. I liked that this one has space, but it isn’t too big, and it can be worn as a backpack. Win, win, win. ✨

It’s made up in Memento canvas! I’m excited that my new collection has canvas in it, and this print also has some neon. 💛 I did get a smidge fussy with the selvage and front pocket. The @rubystarsociety selvages are too much fun to play with.

Actual outfit is Me Made too. Wiksten shift top in my Harriot fabric, and another pair or @enderallsews Saturday Shorts. Love love love.

Dragged the trailer down to the river for a first trip of the year to celebrate (an extended) Mother's Day Weekend. Delighted to be in the sun and hanging outside with my people.

Well it's May 1 and here we are...already looking a little haggard and taking photos in the wrong light, in clothes that are dirty. But, I'm continually moving towards making more "everyday" clothes and so this month I'm going to try to find and fill in those everyday wardrobe gaps. Looking forward to seeing everyone's handmade creations filling my feed for the next 30 days! Happy Me Made May to all who celebrate!

Every time I develop a pattern I think my versions are so pretty and special - and they are, don’t get me wrong.
