Spent a lovely afternoon slow stitching with friends last week! Thank you @lynettehusum for the invite and such warm hospitality 💕

It was so inspiring to see @engelbelle Kerry’s incredible slow stitch work up close. Kerry kindly shared some beautiful fabrics and threads for us to play with. 🧵💕

I finally finished my piece tonight and added a few beads from home. This little collage is a mix of buttons, beads, fabrics and paper — all held together with simple running stitches. I love combining everything like this! 🧵

Do you slow stitch?

Thank you again Lynette and Kerry for a wonderful afternoon 🙏🏻💐💕

As a nature lover, all things botanical have my interest for several reasons. And then to learn all kinds of techniques, and to experiment with them, all of this is happening in the inspiring Flowers Magic Art Fest.

This is after another lesson from #flowersmagicartfest hosted by Francisca @franciscanunes_heartmakes
For this lesson by Kerry @engelbelle we eco dyed different materials. I had muslin, cotton, embroidered pieces and paper.
It’s so surprising to see that every piece has a different result. Even the two pieces of paper. That’s for a reason, every material reacts differently to dye.

After the eco dyeing I embroidered a pocket, and in my collection of tokens there was a piece that matched the colors ‘perfectly’. They just belonged together 😊
All of it such fun.

Wishing you a lovely day beautiful people 💜

You know I just had to get one of the Nature Tokens we made in the Flower Fest into my flower fest journal! The tokens are a bonus lesson by @franciscanunes_heartmakes who also hosts the annual #flowersmagicartfest

I layered my token on some of the fresh cherry dyed paper and fabric, also from Flower Fest. It was the Chasing Blue lesson by @engelbelle but cherries is what I had on hand that day. It’s all fun!

I needed just a couple, really just 2, gel prints of a botanical for the final project in @franciscanunes_heartmakes Flower Fest. Haha make just a couple of gel prints is impossible! For me any way! In the reel, the first ones are a couple tea bags used inspired by @carolinasweetlee gel printing on her tea bags, and then a print on one of my cherry died vintage receipt papers created during @engelbelle ‘s Flower Fest lesson called Chasing Blue. The next 2 are printed on bonus papers provided by @ciciandcompanystudio during the Flower Fest. These are all 5x7”. Tomorrow will be assembling all the pages for the project. 😃

What an incredible Flowers Magic Art Fest... 💛🌿

The Roots & Wings Edition has officially come to an end, and my heart is so full.

To every single one of you who joined us, created alongside us, shared your work, cheered each other on, and made this community so warm and inspiring... thank you.

This Fest has always been about so much more than art. It’s about slowing down, connecting with nature, finding your creative voice, and sharing the journey with others who truly understand.

✨ If you were part of this year’s Fest, I’d love to hear from you.

Tell me in the comments... What was your favourite part of this edition? Or simply, how was this experience for you? 💛

A huge thank you also to the incredible artists who shared their talent, generosity and creativity with all of us.

Thank you for making this such a special edition.

And finally... thank you to every single participant. You are the heart of this beautiful community, and I can’t wait to see where our creative journey takes us next.

Day 3 of the Flowers Magic Art Fest and Kerry Engel is here with Chasing Blue. 🫐

You know that pile of eco prints that didn't quite work? The ones sitting in a drawer, the ones that didn't make your heart sing?

Today we transform them. Using berries, watercolour, and slow stitching, Kerry shows us how to bring forgotten prints back to life and turn imperfection into something rich and layered.

Your roots may be in that old print that didn't work. Your wings come from reimagining it into something new.

Are you creating with us?
Share your page and tag me.

If you want to join us there is still time , comment FEST and I will send you the link. 🫐

Chasing Blue with @engelbelle for the Flowers Magic Art Fest 2026. I achieved a wonderful array of beautiful blues and purples with fresh blueberries and no steaming or boiling. Its incredible how the different papers and fabrics produced different colors!

A little peek at what we’ve been up to inside the Handmade Book Club this month… ✨

We're exploring the wonderfully whimsical Caterpillar Binding. We stitched our way through beautiful Botanical Stitch Cards with Kerry Engel @engelbelle. We swapped ideas (and 🤤 over some serious eye candy) for organizing all those lovely, unruly fabrics and fibers. And we gathered for a fun and relaxed creative playdate with the VPD Team.

Some months are about learning a new technique. Some are about experimenting, getting organized, or simply making time to create alongside other people who understand why scraps, thread, paper, and tiny handmade books are so hard to resist.

Usually, it’s a little bit of everything. 💛

Ready for more creativity, connection, and handmade books in your month? Come join us inside the Handmade Book Club! Tap the link in our bio to learn more.

Enjoyed eco printing with fresh fruit this afternoon with @engelbelle for her lesson in @franciscanunes_heartmakes #flowersmagicartfest re-purposing those kinda blah prints we get sometimes but keep them anyways. I’ve used fresh cherries on fabric prints and paper prints. They had previously been eco printed using alum as the mordant, except one small rust mordant paper piece. Can you believe I got all this color from just 10 cherries!!?! I simmered the pits along with cherries.

Now to let them all dry for the next steps of the lesson! Come join all the fun!
