POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

🇫🇷 Mistral just raised €3 billion at a €21 billion valuation. The lead cheque came from Seoul.

On 8 September 2026 the Paris AI lab closed a €3 billion Series D at a post-money valuation of more than €21 billion. Samsung Electronics led. The EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund and PSG Equity co-led. Mistral calls it the largest equity round ever raised by a European technology company.

⠀
The cap table is the story. Twenty-three named investors in one round: corporate strategics (Samsung, NVIDIA, ASML, Salesforce Ventures), US venture (a16z, Index, Lightspeed, General Catalyst, DST Global), private equity (PSG Equity, Advent), banks (BNP Paribas CIB, Belfius), public money (Bpifrance, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the EU-anchored Scaleup Europe Fund) and Hillspire, the family office of Eric Schmidt.

⠀
Twelve months earlier the Series C priced Mistral at €11.7 billion. That is a 1.8x step-up in 364 days. The money funds a pivot from model lab to European neocloud: 200 MW of compute by 2027, 1 GW by 2030. Mistral's named sites run about 77 MW today, so that is a 13x buildout. VentureBeat cites independent research putting the upfront capital for 1 GW near $38 billion. This round covers roughly 9% of it.

⠀
The €21 billion price rests on European enterprises paying a premium to keep AI workloads on European soil. The product is sovereign, the capital is global. That is not hypocrisy, it is how scale gets funded, but it means the thesis gets settled in enterprise contracts, not in Brussels. Watch the compute order book, not the valuation.

Exciting news! 🚀Candela has closed our largest funding round to date - €30M to scale production of our electric ferries.

We’re also welcoming IFC, the investment arm of the World Bank Group, as a new investor, alongside continued support from EQT Ventures, SEB Private Equity and others.

With 65 vessels on order, we’re now scaling production globally.

Big congrats to Qevlar AI (Future 40 2024), who were part of the @microsoft program at STATION F, on raising $30M!! 🚀

The round was led by @partechvc and Forgepoint Capital, with participation from @eqtventures.
Already working with companies like @mercedesbenz, the team is helping security operations centers move from reactive alert management to proactive security.

Great to see the momentum, Ahmed Achchak and Hamza Sayah, and everything you’re accomplishing – congrats to the whole team 👏

How do you exhibit a NOVUS at a startup conference? You don’t. You ride it around.

You couldn’t do that with any combustion engine motorcycle in the world. With a NOVUS, no problem. You can ride silently at 1 km/h, push it through crowds undisturbed, and present the coolest two-wheeler in the world as naturally as you would an e-bike.

You don’t exhibit a NOVUS. You present it in its sweet spot. Cruising with absolute lightness.

Here at the START Summit, one of the best startup conferences in Europe.

We need a European strategy to build a Resilient AI Ecosystem by design.

I read @eqtventures "Founder Factories vs Money Magnets: Mapping Europe's Emerging AI Landscape" research. The research was created by Anton Åström, Alexander Fred-Ojala, Maximilian Samne, Björn Ström and Johan Henriksson.

The research defined 4 categories for AI hub across Europe including Full-stack Powerhouses, Founder Factories, Money Magnets and Stealth hubs.

It identifies the unique characteristics of each city from having amazing AI talent and to access to capital per capita.

Unlike the US which is putting all weight on the Bay Area (and maybe New York and Boston), London is much more spread in the way the AI ecosystem is built. The main conclusion of the report is that The Future of AI in Europe Won’t Be Built in Just One City.

Innovation and new AI ventures come from anywhere, and not necessarily from the big hubs like London and Paris, which make the role of the venture capitalist to identify great deals very very complex, but also really unique and interesting.

The other conclusion that I have, is that because of this challenge, Europe needs to build and design this network to be resilient and flexible.

The realities of the market teaches us that you cannot, and must not be dependent on one entity, ecosystem or market. We saw that with the collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank, where companies diversified their finances and also now with tariffs and the dependency on the US.

Diversification of investments, markets is a key to build resilience, and the same thing goes when we build this new AI ecosystem. Europe needs to be intentional in designing the AI ecosystem that no matter what geo-political scenario happens, the AI ecosystem stays still, functioning and strong.

This also includes building mechanisms for flow of talent, capital and IP between the bigger cities and smaller cities.

That's a very long game in my opinion, but that could be the moat of Europe going into the future of AI.

Talentium: Sebastian Hjärne, the 22-Year-Old Founder Reimagining Recruitment with AI 🇸🇪

They raised €3.5 million in pre-seed funding from EQT, clients like Brightmill cutting hire costs by 70%, and Klarna’s CEO calling the product demo “one of the coolest things” he’d seen.

We recently had the pleasure of supporting our client @eqtventures in hosting the grand finale of the global Build Competition at their Stockholm office, joined by some of Europe’s most exciting startups including @lovable_dev_official , Superbase, @elevenlabsio, @anthropicai, and Sentry.

With over 2,000 participants from around the world, teams pitched AI-native, no-code products built in just 24 hours. With representation from every continent except Antarctica, this event was a true celebration of innovation and the power of the right tools.

We’re proud to have played a part in the planning and communications around such a dynamic event and grateful for the opportunity to elevate leading voices in the tech space.
