NOVEMBER 3, 2026. Have a plan.

This post is not about telling you who to vote for. It is about making sure you have the information you need to make your own informed decision and actually make it to the ballot box.

The 2026 Midterm Elections will determine leadership at the federal, state and local level across the country, and some of the races that receive the least attention can have the most immediate impact on the communities we live in.

Check your registration. Know where you vote. Research the candidates and offices on your ballot. Read the questions and measures you may be asked to decide. Most importantly, check the rules and deadlines specific to your state and local election authority.

Your voice belongs in the room. Make a plan to use it.

Save this carousel for later. Send it to someone who needs it. Share it to your story. Help somebody in your life make their voting plan.

“People living with HIV do not lead policy neutral lives.”

- @marninathequeen

Marnina, delivered these words at @Equalityfed 2026 Leadership Summit during a panel on HIV that was led by @suttlevision. Marnina also noted that many people think the solution to helping people living with HIV is to shove pills down our throats without considering our other needs or including us in decisions that affect our lives.

Thank you @saint.michaelelizabeth for expanding Equality Federation’s HIV programming in collaboration with the @usplhiv. HIV is not a niche topic.

Marnina is referencing the meaningful involvement of people living with HIV/AIDS (MIPA), which intersects with every aspect of health policy in the world. If you’d like to hear policy analysis like Marnina’s, join or support Positive Women’s Network - USA:

🇧🇷 CHLP’s #Team2Dream traveled to Rio de Janeiro for AIDS 2026, the 26th International AIDS Conference. Our Executive Director S. Mandisa Moore-O’Neal, Senior PJP Attorney Jada Hicks, Staff Attorney Sean McCormick, and Grants Manager Nyx Zierhut gathered with thousands of HIV professionals at the world's largest conference on HIV and AIDS and:

🌟 mingled with international activists, including trans queer sex worker networks
🌟 met with fellow advocates, including the HIV Justice Network, in the Global Village
🌟 convened with funders, including content creation with Elton John AIDS Foundation

Jada and Sean presented two posters at the conference that highlight research on HIV criminalization in the U.S. “It was energizing to connect with long-time allies and those doing international work,” said Sean. “And to bring our poster messaging about HIV criminalization to those in the biomedical field, who are less familiar with this aspect of HIV advocacy.”

▶️ It Takes All of Us: Decriminalizing HIV in the United States and what it means for other countries
Authors: Sean McCormick and Jada Hicks, CHLP; Ariel Luna, Equality Federation; and Ronnie Taylor, FreeState Justice.

▶️ Exposing Inequity: Assessing the scope and enforcement of HIV criminalization on women and Black, brown, and LGBTQ+ people in the U.S.
Authors: Sean McCormick and Jada Hicks, CHLP; Robert Suttle, Robert Suttle Consulting; Nathan Cisneros, Williams Institute at UCLA Law.

At the Equality Federation Leadership Conference, CHLP Executive Director S. Mandisa Moore-O’Neal sat down to talk about why it matters for CHLP to show up in LGBTQ+ movement spaces—and what our Black queer feminist and abolitionist framework brings to the table. She reflects on the power of building solidarity across movements, being unapologetically bold in this political moment, and recognizing the deep connections among politicized attacks on HIV funding, gender-affirming care, reproductive autonomy, and data privacy.

The conference was also a reminder of what is possible when we gather in community. Being alongside our peers and partners who are fighting—and winning—helps keep us inspired and ready for the work ahead. We celebrate every hard-fought victory, from Louisiana to Maryland, while remembering that each win is another step toward the larger transformation our communities deserve.
