Thank you to @institutefornonviolencechicago for co-hosting our first event of the 2026-2027 program year!! Our community gathered at @myimpacthouse to watch a powerful documentary on Community Violence Intervention (CVI) efforts in the city and discuss our own perceptions and experiences with public safety in Chicago.

Every month from October 2026 through June 2027, we'll host two in-person events: one educational (like this) and one volunteering, both with opportunities to strengthen your community in the city, connect with like-minded peers, and accelerated philanthropy to support local organizations 🌎

Public safety takes all of us. 💙

The Protégé Project is proud to serve as a Community Partner for the Reimagining Public Safety Town Hall, bringing community members, advocates, and organizations together to discuss new and proven solutions to ending gun violence in Illinois.

This conversation is especially important to us because the work is happening right here in Auburn Gresham, one of the communities we serve every day.

📍 Auburn Gresham, Chicago
📅 September 17
⏰ 6:00–8:00 PM

We believe safer communities are built through prevention, opportunity, partnership, and making sure community voices are at the table.

We hope to see you there. Scan the QR code on the flyer to register.

Why do you support the RIFL Act? On Advocacy Day in Springfield, Leah talked about why young people are vital to this movement. Let’s get this passed!

Community violence intervention workers are often asked to help others heal while carrying trauma of their own.

In a powerful op-ed for The TRiiBE, Tony Woods argues that mental wellness isn’t a luxury for frontline violence interrupters and outreach workers — it’s essential to the work.
