Something that really bothers me in some corners of feminism is this idea that β€˜women are as good as men’. It’s misogyny in disguise! The idea that men are the benchmark is really counterproductive to true equality. So I created a world where that wasn’t the case. Where the culture is to value someone as a male-person or a female-person. It’s only subtly on the page, but it IS there. Like the sound of this? Share it with others and join our email list so you can be the first to find out when the book is releasing! Just visit my profile page ❀️. πŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒ Hi! Heard of β€˜slow food’? β€˜Slow fashion’? Well guess what! The β€˜slow reading’ movement is a bit like that. You DON’T have to read slowly to be a part of it, you just have to agree that it’s desirable to really savour the books that authors spend years of their life on and not treat them like throwaway items. Sound good? Of course it does! So if you like to savour books or know someone who does, why not celebrate that fact in style! See the carousel above for cute reader-core apparel and drinkware. They’ll make great gifts! All the details are available in my Etsy shop: SlowReadersSociety. The link tree on my bio page will take you directly there. Happy shopping! πŸ›οΈ πŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒ Hi! If I didn’t make these mistakes, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today. It’s natural to want to avoid failures, and to feel disappointed by them, but the reality is that we learn so much through trial and error. If I hadn’t.... πŸ“Line edited my draft before developmentally editing it, I wouldn’t have improved my line writing to the degree that I can now write a pretty nice-sounding first draft. πŸ“Mistaken improving the story for developmentally editing it, I wouldn’t have done the hard work of researching how to write good fight scenes, good dialogue, good description, deep 3rd POV, and story structure–or found my wonderful developmental editors! πŸ“Submitted my manuscript to publishers before it was ready, I wouldn’t have had the practice runs on an inferior manuscript, nor understand what a professional submission looks like. πŸ“Felt uncomfortable about celebrating my successes, I wouldn’t realise how crazy that is in the world of writing where wins are few and far between. All of this to say, don’t be afraid to try new things and fail. You’ll just be one step closer to succeeding on the next try! ❀️ πŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒ Hi! Eeeee!!!! I’m so excited to share that THIS happened! It hasn’t got a publication date yet, a cover, or even a released title, but the first book in my debut romantic fantasy trilogy has received a 5-Star Readers Favourite review! 😱 Here’s a short teaser: A father. A daughter. And the love that divides them. In Astariel’s world, everything has a musical Essence, from which magic springs, and it is her dream to attain mastery. But her father will neither let her train nor inherit his title unless she swears to remain single. A newfound soulmate, uncooperative magic demanding love, and an unexpected prophecy make that promise difficult to keep. Will Astariel extricate herself from her father’s manipulations and fight for her home, or will she lose both her beloved and her life’s purpose? Join my email list for news, books and opportunities! Visit my bio to find out more. You’ll get two free fantasy stories as a thank you ❀️ πŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒ Hi! Sometimes it’s hard to write stories that bring my own faults, failings and misbeliefs to light. But writing was my dream from an early age–basically as soon as I could hold a pencil and form letters! It can be challenging, but remember, your younger self would be so proud of you, so DO THAT HARD THING that’s on your heart. You’re more likely to regret it if you DON’T, than if you DO. πŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒ Hi! Ever noticed a disturbing pattern in your life? πŸ˜‚ So, I just thought about all the stories I’d written recently and most of them (not all) fell into two categories: female protagonists escaping from jerks Male protagonists un-jerking themselves Now, notice please that the female protagonist didn’t un-jerk the male. Although that wasn’t a deliberate choice on my behalf, I’m glad my subconscious made it for me, because thinking I could un-jerk people (ie. CHANGE them) has been a very unhealthy pattern in my life. People can definitely change as a response to love, but the change always has to come from INSIDE. So I am so glad I didn’t inadvertently write a β€˜rescuer’ story where the protagonist set out to change someone and managed it. What toxic storylines have you seen and squirmed at? πŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸπŸƒ Hi!
