Don’t be quick to say you don’t know how to do a particular thing, or that you don’t understand a particular sector. No knowledge is wasted. On Episode 43 of Ororun Weekly, first-generation Nigerian lawyer and law school first-class graduate Enoch Akinbusoye Akinlabi talks about navigating the early days of practice. Currently a trainee associate at Tope Adebayo LP, Enoch explains the shock of being thrown into the deep end of legal practice and why having an open mind is crucial. He shares how entering over 40 essay contests, mock trials, and debates during university handed him the soft skills needed to thrive on the job, and offers his honest take on the law school grading system. We were really thrilled by Enoch’s review of his SLAM experience. Thank you so much Enoch for sharing with us. @erhymz “The 2023 Sports Law Arbitration Moot (SLAM) has been one of my favourite mooting experiences of all time. It opened up a new world to me that I knew existed somewhere, but wasn't familiar with. I came face to face with the nuances of international sports law arbitration, particularly with regard to anti-doping, and it was pretty fun. I also participated last year but didn't make it past the first stage, but this time around, my partner Salami Oluwatoyin and I made it to the regional rounds. I remain undeterred, and when the next edition comes around, I'll be there for it lol. Like fine wine, I only get better with time. Thanks Mooting Society for the opportunity and wonderful coaching by Adejumo Oreoluwa.”
