There are rooms and homes we simply never tire of seeing. Those images stop us from truly mindless scrolling (or perhaps page flipping) and make our minds smile for just a moment. But what is that magic quality they posses that enchants us? Likely of course, it’s more than one thing.. good architecture, beautiful colors, interesting artwork, pieces from many periods or travels… these are a few of my favorites. More to come. But let’s keep thinking about what makes a room charm us, because beautiful living is more than just gram worthy, it’s creativity and expression in the flesh.

Villa Margherita @belmondhotelcaruso , Ravello Amalfi Coast, restored by @dast.designstudio and @eric.egan . I like to return after some time has passed to a hotel or a building I’ve renovated. I love seeing how the traces of those who have stayed there have enriched and created a living patina on materials and objects. A lived-in home gains a value that only time can give.

This week in Milan we assembled a group of American designers for a pre-launch lunch to shout from the rooftops (literally) about our stunning new print biannual, Anthology, that will be available from September. Aimed at the design community, it’ll be a celebration of the best in interiors, with each issue anchored on a theme. It’s big news, and WE’RE EXCITED! ✨

At the Mandarin Oriental, Lake Como, heritage and horizon meet.

In collaboration with Eric Egan, an early iteration of what would become our signature Raineri design was printed onto burnt-yellow tea paper, bringing a sense of warm opulence to the interior.

Inspired by the 18th-century works of Carlo Antonio and Vittorio Raineri, the design forms a dialogue between classic Chinese Chinoiserie and Italian decorative heritage bridging continents with craftsmanship.
