What a fab 3rd Squamish Canadian Climbing Medical Symposium ✨ They take a lot of time & effort to organize but once we have arrived, it's all worth it ❤️ Having a diverse group of like minded climbers together for 3 days sharing a passion for climbing medicine is so magical. When I think back to our 1st symposium here in Squamish in 2019, as well as, symposiums I attended in the UK over a decade ago, climbing medicine has grown so much. It's so inspiring & exciting. I feel like we have a growing family of amazing medical professionals. As we all know, shit happens. One might be cruising along through life and BAM.. from out of nowhere - an occurrence, something unforeseen - changes that moment and perhaps even more. Not always bad, nor always good – just life. While the number of things that might happen at any time are innumerable, we all do have the ability to make choices that will (hopefully) stack the odds in one’s favor. As a climber, a proper diet and a proper training regime are paramount to success and longevity. If you agree and are not familiar with @eric_horst, you need to look no further. IMO, this dude has put more time and energy into schooling all of us regarding @training4climbing than anyone else. He’s written numerous books, with multiple editions, and his continued research about methods and nutrition will not only benefit us now but will fuel the knowledge of those who follow in his footsteps toward the education of others. And now, with the help of @jjenk13 he’s running the brand @physivantage in an effort to offer athletes a hi-end line of nutritional supplements meant to elevate performance. These products have been crafted to Eric’s specifications and again, show his commitment to helping others achieve their physical goals. . I showed up to God’s Crag ready. I had been on the route Jedi Mind Tricks a few times before, I had trained, I was rested, fed, and hydrated. Hard to see, but I had skipped a bolt, and was able to hold on for this last long move in the ceiling but BAM.. broken hold. Sweet whipper! Hard to say what exactly would have happened if the hold had not broken. I had stuck the last long move and was almost off the ceiling. Once my feet were up, I would have gotten a little rest and I knew the last sequences. I’ll go back and square up one day.
