Went to Seattle for a wedding, met so many of my Discord friends for the first time after hanging out online together for years, and got to stay with my brother in glass, the host supreme, @eric_m_pedersen on a floating home! What more could you ask for?

It was an honor to be an instructor for session 6 at Haystack in the Fab Lab.

In one short week, the students learned the basics of wearable electronics, working with LEDs and microcontrollers to build wearable devices. I was so impressed by the students and their ambitious projects. We pulled it off, and celebrated with a showcase on the last night. Student work by @katie.erwin_art @noraformyfriends @puravidapond @closedmondays

Huge thanks to my student assistant @katie.erwin_art to Fab Lab staff @jamesdrutter @phoebejoyzildjian , and the entire @haystack_school staff for their support. I also loved collaborating with Glass and Fibers to make items that combined wool and glass with electronics for the auction. @meganstelljes @eric_m_pedersen @thorntreeglass @stephanie_metz_sculpture

It’s gonna take a lot longer than I have currently to describe the experience of @pilchuckglassschool in adequate ways.

Nothing can really encapture how special of a place it is, you get dropped in this wild wonderland full of the most interesting, inspiring and encouraging people. You learn the most unimaginable things, push yourself to no end, fail to get enough sleep for the entirety of the trip, and end up in a fugue state of elation and excitement, no doubt ready to take the next step in your career with confidence and enthusiasm.

I have nothing but gratitude and longing for the people I met there, thank you to every one of you for making the world of glass what it is. No doubt I will remember this until my last days.

Our class, run by @hermansson_p and @bjornfriborg, our TA @bekksovik, and additional mentors @hannahansdotter and @kirstenhermansson were so generous, insightful and honest. Never was there a moment I felt without the help I needed, nor was there a time I felt like I wasn’t two steps away from a fun story or silly time. My fellow students brought so much to the table, at every stage there was something exciting to get up to.

My roommate @zevindelaski was a fucking legend, making the home base secure without sacrificing and fun, and all staff, students and squirrels ensured a dull moment was few and far between!

Nothing speaks enough to the impact of this trip, or the friends I’ve made. If you were there and see this, enjoy the algorithm gods confirming for me that you have made a direct impact in my life for years to come ❤️ I do wish I got pics with you all now ❤️

Endless thanks to @jamfactoryau for sending me on this life changing adventure, thanks especially to @_yo.dan_ and @drew_spangenberg for your work building my skills and knowledge to a place where I could do our country proud. And a greater thanks to my American family with @funstonkaren at the helm, for the lifetime of acceptance in your homes and hearts, you made this trip the return home I had always hoped for, I can’t wait to do it again soon

@connorpphotography photographed the one piece I brought home, stay tuned for many more graals from here on in!
