I still remember @eric_taft hitting me up to hang out and jam. I showed him this song I had wrote but it didn't have a bridge and it was missing something. At that time @thegreatheightsband had released a song called above the water and it hit me through the absolute feels. An absolute banger. It was just what I needed. 🫶 I asked Eric to jump on this one with me and to incorporate that "Above the water" vibe. He nailed it.

I quickly wrote a bridge in studio and next thing I know we had this demo. It was called No Rain No Flowers and I had written 4 different versions prior. 🤯

I was in a super dark place after some injuries in motocross. I had a scare and thought I was going to lose my left hand. I battled really hard to get back to doing what I loved, what I poured my heart into for so many years. I was broken physically, mentally and emotionally but I knew if I could just keep searching for that light no matter how dark, I could find myself again. I'm proud that I stuck it out.

Thank you to everyone who took this song to 100K streams on @spotify The saves, shares, the merch. Supporting the record Drinking Unsupervised. Screaming so loud at shows.

I never thought an independent small town artist would be able to hang his hat on something like this and help others, to pick myself and others up off the concrete. Thats what it's all about. Love this community 🖤✌️
This army. Thank you @eric_taft @emguitarist @rockwerd and @rfbvfilms for the dope 🎥

I’m standing on the edge, again, tonight wondering if the way I feel is right there’s poison in my veins My heart has been betrayed.
Don’t let me fade away.
Tell me is this sentence just a slur?
in my head everything‘s a blur
drifting like the smoke
silent like a ghost
can you stay? Can you stay? I’m lying awake I don’t want to sleep. I’m scared of my dreams, so tell me. can you stay?

mess me up and throw me to the side
forget our love and all the reasons why
you were life inside my veins before the final sting

Eat Your Heart Out crew spotlight:

Songwriter - Eric Taft

This movie heavily features original songs played by our main characters. We knew very early on we were going to need kick ass songs for the band to play. So we turned to one of the best musicians, songwriters and music producers we know... Eric Taft.

Eric is a Grammy nominated music producer who has worked with artists like Underoath, Less Than Jake and the Plain White Ts. He also plays in kick ass bands like 'The Great Heights Band' and 'So Fetch'.

Eric not only took our little song sketches from the script and brought fully them to life but he also recorded and produced the songs as well as most of the various guitar sounds you'll hear throughout the film.

On a personal note, Ive known Eric over 15 years and we even played together in a band that got to do some pretty rad things, including winning a reality competition show and touring Japan. He's genuinely one of the most talented and kind people I know. I'm really stoked he was able to be the Adam Schlesinger to my Tom Hanks on this one.

(If you understand that reference youre gonna love this movie!)
