In between sessions at Gold Ray sending the dam and shralping the wave – much to the anadromous Salmon and Steelheads’ dismay – the Ashland Mine crew and Jeffy “the Bear” were living our finest days. While they ended too quickly when our beloved Bear passed away, the memory of him and them still resonates so loudly in my mind as if it were yesterday. While our community was never the same the remnant that persisted around his love and stoke was bolstered by his incredible deep rooted Nor Cal family’s support . It made it possible to continue living with his great passion and love for rivers, family, and friends. 📷 @jeffreywishard

In this first post, we are proud to highlight local cinematographer and storyteller, Jill Garreffi, and her work on Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s recently released 60th anniversary film, “Layers of Time.”

Summer in @JacksonHole Village does not disappoint. From tram views, hiking new trails, and Via Ferrata, to e-bike cruising to @tetongravity, sweet Top of the World Waffles, and savory @tetonthai — @meteorite_pr and @jacksonhole knows how to have a good time.

I checked it out for @ori_magazine, and got the shot. Stay tuned, more coming soon!

@savethesouthfork ‘s recent victory against the Stibnite Gold Mines air permit is massive on many levels. First, a board of overseers selected by the governor of Idaho found that Idaho State Department of Environmental Quality “created a misleading risk analysis that greatly underestimates the actual cancer risk (of air pollutants)”. Second, paddlers, anglers, river lovers like @zak_sears weighed in persuasively against the would be air permit with their unique, intimate knowledge of the river, encouraging all of us to continue speaking up and out for the places we love and probably know best. Third, any support for river advocacy groups like @savethesouthfork @idahoconservationleague @npt1855 , just to name the partnering trifecta in this case is an investment that is paying off. Fourth and most importantly, Stibnite Gold Project’s air permit has been invalidated; therefore, they are not currently able to proceed with their open pit strip mine at the headwaters of the longest remaining free flowing river in the USA 🙏

Please write mbundy@house.idaho.gov and gschroeder@senate.idaho.gov to tell them that Idaho DEQ and Perpetua Resources must follow the law and protect the health of mine workers, back country users, and animals in ensuring clean air at the proposed Stibnite mine. This will help @savethesouthfork @npt1855 @idahoconservationleague and others to appeal the Air Permit recently issued to the Stibnite Industrial Goldmine at the headwaters of the South Fork Salmon River. This email in support of SSFS, NPT & ICL’s bid to appeal the air permit issued to Idaho DEQ to Perpetua at the pristine headwaters of our sacred river is do by the morning of March 14th.

Dear Rep. Matt Bundy & Senator Geoff Schroeder,
Currently, the air quality at the headwaters of the South Salmon River at the historic Stibnite Mine is pristine. Of course Perpetua’s plan to reactivate and greatly expand the mine and activities into a large scale industrial gold mine will diminish air quality. But it should not be allowed to exceed state and federal clean air standards that are set to protect mine workers and the public alike. I am therefore extremely concerned that Perpetua Resources and Idaho (DEQ) have respectively presented and approved a plan that will exceed toxic pollutant thresholds including arsenic by 181% according to independent studies. In addition, Perpetua’s plan to deny air quality protections to the public by requiring people traveling through affected areas to “sign a waiver” and agree to be “guests of the mine” seems especially hazardous to back country users that may not be presented with a waiver and mine workers that may not have a choice. Please demand that Idaho DEQ and Perpetua follow the law and protect the health of everyone in and around their proposed large-scale industrial gold mining activities!

Walking the landscape with new friends and old dogs make each trip better.

The point is on a mallard hen that suddenly dropped out of the sky and hid in that small clump of grass. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen. Got a nice point out of Griff and back out Hex. Rune was just there for the party 😂.

This weekend I will be with new friends, and walking through a new landscape. I wish you all could join me!
