Eeek! Finally finished editing my completed journal flip through!! I wasn’t able to show all of my spreads, otherwise I feel like we’d be stuck here forever, but here’s just a few of my favorites!!

I absolutely loved using a spiral bound notebook because my journal was able to lay flat until about five ish spreads left at the end, and even then, nothing was really warped!

This was such a project of love and it’s now my second ever completed journal so I feel so proud flipping through it knowing how much happiness this hobby has really brought me!

Lots of snail mail artists helped me along the way to keep this my journal filled!! Here’s some that were featured in this video:

@helia.boke

Onto the next journal we go!!

A tortilla press. For printmaking. Who knew?!

16 years teaching art and printmaking and I never thought of this one!

Spotted this genius little art room hack over on @eriharriprints account and had to give it a go!

I love finding ways to make printmaking easier and more manageable, especially when working with young children and small groups.

This mini foam printing technique is such a simple way to introduce children to printmaking, without needing an expensive printing press.

Have you tried this technique?

I've put together a more detailed step by step guide, including materials and tips for using foam printing with children.

It'll be available on my website soon!

the best feeling is opening new mail 💌

In a world of AI, endless scrolling and increasingly digital ways of connecting, it’s interesting to see a very old-fashioned form of communication having a moment again: getting something through the post.

Mail clubs are becoming an increasingly popular phenomenon across the Instagram artist world, with artists, poets and other creatives using the format to connect with their audiences in a different way.

The subscription models vary, as does what arrives in the post. It might be an illustration, a print, hand-drawn stickers, poetry, a craft activity or even a small publication. I’ve even come across mail clubs built around someone’s grandparents’ love letters.

What they all have in common is the opportunity to buy into something creative without having to spend a huge amount of money, support an artist or online personality you admire, and receive something you can physically hold and keep.

And perhaps that’s part of the appeal.
For a generation accustomed to everything being instant, digital and disposable, receiving something physical through the letterbox can feel surprisingly novel.

It also offers artists an interesting way to build a relationship with their audience. Rather than simply creating something for people to look at on a screen, they’re creating an experience that arrives at someone’s door.

I love #drawing. I love #painting. And now I love creating mini #prints from #linocut too. I have to credit @eriharriprints amongst others for the #designinspiration, (and for making it look easier than it actually is) luring me into having a go in the first place with their tiny print Tuesdays. Alongside the obsession with painting buildings, this is up there!

Using rubbers makes the whole process even more accessible - genius, so maybe a great little project to try over the summer school break, or just because you can...

Right. Back to the 'drawing board' to finish some long overdue work.
