POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday a group of Newhouse NYC students, professors and alumni had the opportunity to visit the Open AI headquarters in the Puck Building. Newhouse alum @evanshirsch hosted us and told us all about his new role at @openai where he leads initiatives focused on AI adoption in newsrooms and helps journalists navigate AI-enabled workflows.

Evan has been a huge Newhouse NYC supporter over the years, hosting our students as interns at his former role at NBC, mentoring and speaking on panels. We are so grateful for his time and his dedication to our students!

Congratulations to @NewhouseNYC professor Erik Forrest Jackson on the release of his new book, “Taylor & Travis: A Love Story Album.” @erikforrestjackson wrote this interactive book inspired by Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s nuptials. The couple did get married just down the street from the Fisher Center, so we feel extra connected to this era-defining wedding. We hope you’ll support our phenomenal “Diversity in Broadway Theater” professor whether you’re a Swiftie, a Chiefs fan, or both!

For the final show in the “Topics in Media Diversity and Inclusion: Broadway Theater” class, students saw @maybehappyending. Thanks to Professor @erikforrestjackson for arranging a special backstage visit after the show with Emilio Ramos, Associate Director.

And few students even got to meet @hannah.kevitt, who plays Claire, at the stage door!

Thank you to Jacob Malizio, Social Media Manager at Marathon Digital for visiting Professor Jackson’s “Topics in Media Diversity and Inclusion: Broadway Theater” class last week. Jacob handles the @hamiltonmusical and @outsidersmusical social channels, and it was eye-opening to learn about his career and his work in the industry. ✨

The Newhouse NYC Summer 2026 program is in full swing! We are thrilled to welcome back Professor Elissa Cohen & Professor Erik Forrest Jackson, who "accidentally" coordinated their orange & blue for the first day of class. 🧡💙

Professor Cohen teaches COM 509: Communications Law in NYC and Professor Jackson teaches COM 350: Diversity in Broadway Theater. We can't wait to see the exciting lessons they have in store for the summer students!

Newhouse NYC hosted Professor @ErikForrestJackson, an award-winning playwright, musical bookwriter, and novelist, for a first look at his newest play! Professor Jackson also teaches COM 350: Diversity in Broadway Theatre for @Newhouse NYC. 🎭️

Students had the opportunity to sit in one the first reading of the script, which tells the story of the off-stage character Ruthie in David Mamet’s American Buffalo. The session provided all who attended with an opportunity to examine the creative process behind the development of an on-stage production and to engage directly with contemporary dramatic storytelling from a leading voice in the field.
