For this week’s #MeettheLocals memory, we’re sharing locals from Paris, Washington D.C., and Sri Lanka.

Haute Couture designer @julienfournie lives and works in Paris. He brings joy and magic to all through his charismatic personality. Fournié is known for his attention to detail and dark mystical personality. His collections have been known to see villains and princesses play nice together. See his latest collection during Haute Couture in January for SS 2027. Keep an eye out for updates.

Erin Thompson of @erinthompsonstudio resides in Washinton, D.C on Capitol Hill to be exact. She’s a local artist. She focuses on hyper-local drawings and sketches of neighborhood establishments and families. Clients commission her to paint family portraits and personalized home paintings. She makes holiday cards, ornaments, and trinkets too.

Chef Alan Geaam emigrated to Paris from Lebanon. @restaurant.alangeaam earned one Michelin star and his others are known for specialties such as pastry, bistrot, shawarma, and more. Geaam’s story is an inspiration to us all.

Romain Paillette started working for the Paris tourism industry over 10 years ago. His unique personal story led him to create @vintagecartourparis. His agency assists with your personalized tour experience in #Paris.

Chanchala Gunewardena lives in Sri Lanka and manages a local business, @kimbulakitchen. She makes a local Sri Lankan organic sugar-free syrup. Her product has been mentioned and used in several popular recipes. Old fashions in London, local tamarind flavored soft serve, and a spiced kithul cake to name a few.

Check out our 2026 locals and their stories. We look forward to sharing more with you as we celebrate our 10-year anniversary.

Happy 10 years from Dreams Abroad! Thank you for your support and love. We 🩵 You!

March is Women’s History Month, and today is International Women’s Day, we want to take a moment to honor the amazingly accomplished women who impress us every day of the year.

In the past year, Dreams Abroad has featured several women who started new businesses, gave back to the community, and made huge waves everywhere from the art world to the wine scene and well beyond. We hope you’ve appreciated learning their stories as much as we’ve loved sharing them.

Tap the link in bio to read some of our Meet the Locals stories featuring these highly inspiring women, and stay tuned for more exceptional stories later this year.

We’re staying warm and cozy at home, watching the snow melt outside our windows and neighborhood kids play while we work. I snapped this photo of one of the classic Capitol Hill fences on our block on my lunch walk with Otto.

It reminded us of our friend @erinthompsonstudio’s work, and the painting of hers we picked up at Christmas for our den that we can’t wait to share!

Sending warmth to you all and hoping you’re safe, cozy and enjoying the snow wherever you are. ❄️

'Tis the season to be merry and bright! Dreams Abroad celebrated our first holiday party with @sugachef as our host. We want to say thank you to chef Padua for his time and tips! We all learned something new.

Dreams Abroad invited guests to create cards for our Dream wall installation coming up in 2026. And, we had a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate our DC headquarters. 2025’s been a great year. There's still time to mail a postcard to us. Be a part of our journey. We want to hear from you!

Sign up for our Compass Club news to receive current information on events (and more). It's our 10-year anniversary in 2026. We have so much to tell you and your less than 10 dollars per month goes directly to our mission. We’re making dreams a reality! Our scholarship is providing an opportunity to achieve dreams abroad in education and training.

Happy Holidays from all of us to you and thank you for being a part of our story.
