EDIT- I’m trying to keep up with comments, but I’ve got 2 sick toddlers so pls be patient 😅. Based off of recent events in the book community I’m speaking up on something I find deeply important.

I want to preface this post with the fact that I myself am not immune to these questions. Have I been doing ENOUGH to support, uplift, and promote marginalized authors? Absolutely not. I have an infinite amount of ways I need to grow if I want to use my white privilege to uplift marginalized communities.

So accountability starts today. I am committing to read more diversely, engage more diversely, promote more diversely. Because if change doesn’t start with me then what’s the fucking point of it all?

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to make deep and meaningful friendships through bookstagram, but truly one of the most important friends is with the intelligent, thoughtful, and insightful @cafeconromance ❤️ She educates me constantly and inspires me to do better. ILYSM ❤️
