02 October 2001 (25 Years Ago): American singer, songwriter, and record producer Alicia Keys released “A Woman’s Worth” as second single from her debut studio album, “Songs in A Minor” (Sony Music Entertainment / J Records / MBK Entertainment / Universal Music Publishing).

It was written by Keys alongside Erika Rose, while production duties were handled by the former, with Manny Marroquin serving as mixing engineer and Herb Powers Jr. as mastering engineer.

The empowering anthem is about self-respect, mutual appreciation, and demanding the true emotional value a woman deserves in a relationship. Lyrically, it warns partners not to take a woman’s passion, loyalty, or hard work for granted. If a man fails to recognize or prioritize her, she has the power and self-assurance to walk away and find someone who does.

Commercially, it has reached a peak of number seven on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles Chart. In addition, the single has reached a peak at number three on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on August 19, 2020, denoting sales exceeding 0.5 million units according to Nielsen SoundScan.

As of date, “A Woman’s Worth” has been streamed more than 63 million times on Spotify.

Seven years ago I heard a version of the song “Holy War” covered by @missamberlily @tubbyloveofficial and @erebert
I fell in love with the harmonies and the message and started carrying it into every stage I got invited into… as a prayer for peace and unity during these wild times where religion has become a source of separation rather than communion with the divinity in all beings.
This past March I reconnected with my dear sister @eset_rose and joined forces to uplift the Gospel of Love. Learning that the song was originally sung by @aliciakeys - I asked if Eset had anything to do with the song, and it turns out that she both co-wrote and produced it.
Two days ago she sang it live for the second time as part of the Gospel of Love at the Heartland Gathering with the @omya.community and it just lit the stage on fire with love and truth… with lines like “peace and love ain’t so far, if we nurse our wounds before they scar”
I’m so honored to co-create with these legendary humans @eset_rose @dee_w_a_l_k_e_r @hohm_music and @b.tru.louis
Spreading songs of love and belonging.
Here’s to a legacy of love ❤️
May all beings everywhere by safe, happy, healthy and free ✊🏻✊🏽✊🏿

There is an intimacy that intensity can reveal.

Not all power is harsh and not all surrender is passive. Inside a clean container, the body begins to understand that it can let go without bracing.

This is one of the great paradoxes of sub space. Clear boundaries can create softness. Structure can open the door to peace. When the Domme field is steady, attuned, and awake, intensity becomes something the nervous system can trust.

A skilled Domme is not performing control. She is listening with her whole body. She is tracking breath, tension, timing, resistance, desire, and the subtle places where energy begins to move.

From the outside, it may look like dominance.

Inside, it feels like devotion.

Dominatrix training is an initiation into presence. It teaches you how to hold charge without leaking it, how to lead without force, and how to let power move through you with integrity.

The real art is containment plus ferocity.

When intensity is held with care, it becomes deeply intimate.

I adored watching each of these women embody, expand deep in surrender and love so intimately. I am deeply inspired by each one of them. Their Dommes are fierce! And the way they melt and receive is stunningly beautiful.

Power and surrender are two sides of the same coin.

We know how to lead, achieve, hold everything together, and remain capable through it all.

Yet receiving is equally vital. Deep nourishment, rest, pleasure, and the freedom of being held are essential to our wholeness. The state of being that is submissive space allows a person to fill up and receive.

When a woman learns to embody the responsible Dominatrix, she develops the presence, precision, boundaries, and emotional containment required to hold power with integrity. This is a paradox that makes complete and total sense when embodied.

She becomes someone who can create a structure strong enough for surrender—her own and another’s.

True power does not harden us.

It creates the safety that allows the body to soften, receive, and open into the profound peace of surrender.

Tell me in the comments. Do you feel that you want to soften surrender and receive more in your life? Do you feel strong and confident in your power?
