The rise of the mature influencer is challenging social media’s obsession with youth. Recording straight out of a panel I moderated at Jupiter Festival in Miami. 🇺🇸🎤

The often overlooked 40s, 50s and 60s crowd are finding new audiences, proving that experience beats aesthetics.

For context, the silver influencer usually refers to creators aged 50+, but this panel also touched on career resurgences in your 40s!

THANK YOU MIAMI! 🇺🇸🎤

This week, I took to the stage at @jupiterfestivalmiami to moderate ‘The Creator Landscape, Recharted’ alongside Evan Shapiro, Jon Goss and Shira Lazar.

We got into some questions I’ve been thinking about for ages. How much does having millions of followers actually tell us about someone’s influence? As Jon put it, “content creation is now being completely commoditised.”

Evan and Shira unveiled the 2026 Creator Ecosphere Map, making sense of the pure CHAOS that is the creator economy. We dug into the Affinity Quotient, a metric that looks at how audiences actually engage with creators, giving smaller voices a chance to be recognised alongside the biggest names online. For context, MrBeast ranks #85 on the Affinity 100!

One of my favourite lines came from Evan: “Reach is such a last decade metric. It is a vanity metric, it is empty calories.”

And one of my own lines, which in hindsight feels quintessentially British given the choice of the word ‘toilet’: “You could go to the toilet, [come back], and five platforms have changed.”

35 minutes was NEVER going to be enough when you’re joined by some of the best minds in the biz unpacking the creator economy.

Huge thank you to Jupiter and my fellow panellists! 🤝🇺🇸

Our second Creator Ecosphere Map is here. 🎉 Comment MAP and I’ll DM you the link to dive in deeper.

And if there’s one thing that’s clear looking at 2025 and 2026 side by side, it’s how fast this industry is changing.

Creators are becoming media companies. Newsletters, podcasts, memberships and communities are becoming real businesses. The tools and infrastructure around creators are exploding. And follower count alone tells you less and less about who actually has influence.

That’s why we mapped the ecosystem again.
