Approaching your body with curiosity is a way to tune and notice what your body is asking for.

Supportive positions, movement, touch, rebozo techniques and belly binding can offer the body more ease, space and support as it changes.

These practices can help ease tension and discomfort, create space through the pelvis, support alignment and deepen your connection with your changing body and your baby.

As part of our M/other circle series, our Pregnancy / Body session will be guided by myself, @eskeillar and the incredible Goergia Jane from @bodyworks______ . Together, we’ll explore these practices and learn ways to care for your changing body, creating more comfort, connection and ease.

We still have a few early bird tickets available if you’d like to join us.

We would love to have you there.

Upholstered in our locally made Chunky wool LIFE Textile, LAYUP is a groundbreaking collaboration between @skeehanstudio + @composite.sydney that explores a local, iterative + circular approach to furniture production.

Previewed at Melbourne Design Week, the piece is fabricated in Sydney using robotic 3D printing with 100% recycled PETG, reflecting the same principles of local production + material stewardship that inform our wool textile collections.

LAYUP investigates this new manufacturing system that can allow furniture to be rapidly adapted, reclaimed + reproduced without traditional tooling or offshore production.

The Design Week South Africa team welcomes its advisory board, the Design Axis

Since launching Design Week South Africa in 2024, we’ve had the privilege of connecting with an incredible network of local and international designers, practitioners, and curators whose insights have helped shape our vision.

These conversations reinforced a simple truth: meaningful design ecosystems are built through collaboration, dialogue, and shared knowledge.

To formalise this growing community, we created The Design Axis — a collective of industry leaders, thinkers, and creatives who help guide the evolution of Design Week South Africa. Bringing together diverse perspectives across disciplines and geographies, The Design Axis ensures our platform remains informed, inclusive, and connected to both local context and global design conversations.

More than an advisory body, The Design Axis represents our commitment to building a year-round design platform driven by collective intelligence, continuous exchange, and a shared vision for the future of design.

Design Axis:

Zanele Kumalo @misszan
Bielle Bellingham @biellebellingham
Nandi Dlepu @nandi.dlepu

Gemma Savio @gemmareasavio

Design Week South Africa team:

Margot Molyneux @margot_molyneux
Roland Postma @rolandpostma

The foundation of our shared studio practice is grounded in an understanding that we can make use of the abundance of materials already in circulation. Through material experimentation we endeavour to repair, repurpose and salvage from natural and built environments.

LUNETTA with @sallycaroline_ in the 100 Chairs by @friends.associates ❤️

Sally, Sally, Sally! ❤️ One of the very first to put their trust and faith into me as a designer to collaborate in bringing a collection of pieces into the world! There are so many stories that go with all collaborations and design journeys but I really do love nothing more than being reunited and having a laugh about it all with my dear friend Sal ❤️

Another and a forever congratulations to @friends.associates , @dale.hardiman and @tom_skeehan for the immense amount of work and effort yourselves and those supporting you have put in to both the show and into the community at large ❤️

100 Chairs is supported by @abbotsfordconvent and the @design_institute_au

🪑 🛋️💺What fun to write about ‘100 Chairs’ at Melbourne Design Week for @guardianaustralia!

Congratulations to @tom_skeehan and @dale.hardiman of @friends.associates on a brilliant and fascinating show. It demonstrates just how many routes can be take to designing a single object and there is a wonderful sense of community in the exhibition.

Get to the Abbotsford Convent to see it before Sunday if you have the chance – it’s free and there’s many other great shows on there too!

It was SO hard to pick just 15 chairs to highlight, each piece in the show is wonderful in its own way! Many of the chairs I loved were by designers who aren’t necessarily product or furniture designers but applied their skills to seating for the first time. Others I appreciated for their cheeky personalities, clever engineering or the way they unpacked material histories. Featured are:

curated by @dale.hardiman and @tom_skeehan
as part of Melbourne Design Week 2026

The Blanco Chair aimed to recontextualise and elevate fluted polycarbonate, a material commonly used as roofing for carports and verandas, by applying it to what is arguably the epitome of furniture design, the chair
