Always look forward to this weekly class not even to hone my own skills, but getting to see how far along everyone else is in their own work, is extremely rewarding an inspiring in so many ways.

The biggest take away I've had so far is how much sketching is a feeling, not just somthing you see visually. It becomes a tool, it stays with you long after you put the pencil or pen 🖊 down.

Sixth Annual Whidbey Plein Air Paint Out Gala photos. The Paint Out and Gala are fundraisers for the Pacific Northwest Art School. @pnwas Largest group of artists yet with 90 artists participating. The juror for the Juried Art Show is Katherine Khile, owner of the @scottmilogallery. I like to see gallerists and collectors called upon to jury some of these events. I think they can offer a little different perspective in their selections which is valuable to artists. I appreciate that she took the time to write down her thoughts on each of the nine awards she selected. Best In Show -- Mike Wise. I enjoyed his recap of how the two cows participated in his composition. I have added my two contributions to the show. A tad strange seeing my paintings on display - first time since college. Thank you to Katherine for recognizing my feelings of my "First Time On Whidbey". Thanks to the staff and volunteers for a wonderful event. Great crowd in attendance. And it will be a busy weekend. I admire the island community's participation and support of the school and artists.

Gestural Charcoal class 2!! ☺️

Another great time today getting to meet other painters/ an sculptors. Life experiences, time, Memory.

All things I draw from all the time an the beautiful thing is that these concepts are found everyday, not just while creating or working ♡.

Another fun art day. Met with @esterohman.art this morning. I enjoy meeting artists for the first time. Thanks @aliapainter for suggesting she reach out to me. And I hope Ester can arrange to paint next week at the Whidbey Island Plein Air Paint Out. Stopped by @colegallery to see @pamingallsart new show + new works by @amandahoustonart. 👍👍 And then to @graphiteartscenter to visit @andyeccleshall studio. A quick pic of him at the easel. If you don't know Andy's work, you owe it to yourself to take a close look. Definitely one of the finest painters in the Pacific Northwest and Cole Gallery's #1 selling artist. And for my Airstream friends, a gem of a painting by @janis_graves_fineart. Graphite is also debuting a new group show "Illuminate". Great to see these two paintings by @mark.d.boyle. His work epitomizes that title. Finally, a stop at @flyin.taco for a surprise take out lunch for the grandkids. Stunningly good tacos, by the way!

Really amazing day today getting to take part in a Charcoal Gestural class.

Super rewarding seeing everyone from beginning this process/ to those that are really far along.

Normally I've never got the chance to take classes like this, and stick to just pure abstraction with my own process, but I'm really excited to incorporate more human forms into my upcoming works an a big thank you too @artlovesalon and @esterohman.art for even having this class thank you!!
😊❤️🙏

Last week was pretty special. So honored to have been included in the inaugural Clay Sisters Retreat created by @alicianponzio in San Francisco. Besides sculpting along side each other all day we had some fun evening adventures with incredible dinners and enjoying the acrobatics of Dear San Francisco @clubfugazisf

Thank you to Alicia and all the local sisters who helped Alicia make this happen @jacquegiuffre @heidi_wastweet @ptheissn and especially @karenmontgomery7 for hosting me in your beautiful home!

More memories from HRF 🌼
What my phone couldn’t capture was the feeling of being surrounded by and learning from hardworking and motivated artists every day. Treating landscape painting as a lifestyle had me so excited to wake up each morning and explore what the day had to offer 🪷
