Dentist appointments & Lost miniature Elephants. Ryann has had a rough couple of days! She’s a trooper. We experienced a mini-miracle this afternoon though! I never envisioned myself digging in the sand at any point this year but, here we are. No other place I’d rather be. ❤️ I call this a rare parenting win! 🏅 #GirlDad

There’s something powerful about looking into a room full of young people and reminding them of something they may need to hear before they take that test: “YES I CAN!”

Last school year, I had the opportunity to connect with the students at Choptank Elementary School before MCAP testing. The energy was incredible! 🔥 But beyond the music, cheers, and excitement, the goal was to build confidence and remind every student that they already have what it takes to succeed. Thank you, Choptank Elementary, for allowing Beck Excellence to bring the motivation and the impact!

Last week, @beckexcellence traveled to Federalsburg Elementary School for a MCAP Pep Rally. The goal was simple, inspire the students for testing while having some fun in between. I’m proud to say we hit our mark! The students were introduced to “Yes, I Can” a new record featuring my youngest daughter Ryann. The response was incredible! A lot of laughs and great conversations from our young people!! S/O to Teat Davon for providing the sounds! Special thanks to Yolanda Beck for capturing the day. A couple of weeks ago I was asked to throw a pep rally to prepare students for MCAP testing. I decided to create an extension of my Hip-Hop History lesson for the students. Creating a song that motivates them to keep Effort & Focus at the forefront! The result was incredible. “Yes, I Can” is a mantra, a reminder for students to continue to try their absolute best!

I tagged in my youngest Ryann to help me with the song. ❤️ Curtis Cephas on the production. 🔥 Yolanda Beck created the lyric video. 🎬

I can vividly remember the doctor saying “It’s a girl!” I was scared to death! I’m now responsible for another life. I knew from that moment , I had to make some adjustments as a man. I have to admit, you’ve made this parenting thing kinda simple. You just get it. I love our deep conversations and the fact that you’re so in tune with yourself. That’s a superpower. Never lose that. Today we celebrate your 18th birthday and I’m looking at old photos and videos and getting choked up because I have no clue where the time went. I love being your Dad. I love watching you grow and I’m certain that you will continue to accomplish and achieve great things in your life because of who you are. I have the utmost confidence in your abilities. #2016 was a different kind of season 🤎
My first international hair tour, endless natural hair events, and a community that felt like home! Representing brands, forming genuine relationships, and being part of the early wave of the new natural hair movement. That season shaped me. Grateful for that time and proud of the part I played. I miss those days and the curlfriends I gained along the way.🫶🏽

I never give relationship advice because what works for me may not work for you. What I can tell you is this: A man without discipline will be a boy forever.
