Happy Birthday to the one and only @princessetch I have known her since she was just sixteen years old (10 of the 15 years I have been a full-time professional etch a sketch artist); on behalf of Etch U productions, I have been so honored to support and be part of her professional journey. She is my cousin from Krypton and my constant inspiration as Etch U production has flown her to gigs across the country over last several years. COVID postponed and cancelled what was going to be our biggest year of #etchasketch live parties, but we are still doing virtual parties and commissions with @bryanetch . Together We are the Epic Etch Trio! DM me with your email for more information and support @princessetch, Etch U productions, and etch a sketch art by getting etched! #etchasketch #getetched #princessetchasketch #amazingetchman #etchuproductions #etchasketchday @record.worlds @spinmaster @60secdocs @guin.essworldrecords @ripleysbelieveitornot @reddit @samantha_sketch @etchasketchgenius @clearlakeecoretreat @bryanetch #bryanetch #liveevents #zoom #zoomparties #2020 @iamwandasykes

The Etch A Sketch toy was invented in the late 1950s by André Cassagnes an electrician with Lincrusta Co, who named the toy L'Écran Magique (The Magic Screen). In 1959, he took his drawing toy to the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany. The Ohio Art Company saw it but had no interest in the toy. When Ohio Art saw the toy a second time, they decided to take a chance on the product. L'Écran Magique was soon renamed the Etch A Sketch and became the most popular drawing toy in the business. After a complex series of negotiations, The Ohio Art Company launched the toy in the United States in time for the 1960 Christmas season with the name "Etch A Sketch". Ohio Art supported the toy with a televised advertising campaign.
Now @spinmaster owns the rights to the #etchasketch and all its glory.

The EAS community is my favorite group of creative humans. Thank you all for making this years anniversary special admits the realities we all are experiencing. Art is a wonderful way to bring peace and love as well as inspire those around us!

Speaking of things I meant to share 8 months ago:

In the last month I haven't left my city block. It's a blessing in some ways - I'm fortunate to live walking-distance from a grocery store and post office, both of which are of paramount importance to my business and livelihood. But I've been feeling just a bit cooped up. I miss the CTA. I miss public transit. I miss airplanes. It's gotten me thinking a lot about the adventures I went on in 2019, and all the unexpected places 2019 has taken me.

What might arguably be the strangest place on that list is @clearlakeecoretreat, owned by fellow Etch A Sketch artist Kyle, aka @etchasketchgenius. He kindly hosted his private lake and surrounding nature out in the backwoods of Canada to any etch artist that would make the trip out there. Samantha (@samantha_sketch), Christoph (@amazingetchman) and I happily obliged, and we spent a week living way out of our elements.

As a city folk I wasn't used to things like hiking, canoeing, berry picking, axe throwing and fishing. Though my technique looks absolutely flawless in these photos, I can assure you that only Kyle brought home dinner that night. 🐟

Extra! Extra! Read All About it! Etch A Sketch is featured in Toybook Magazine, commemorating the 60th anniversary of America’s Classic Toy. I’m honored to be included with these fellow Etch A Sketch artists, all pushing the boundaries of art and mediums. A little bright spot to a crazy time♥️ .
.
And I love that they specifically included my sketch of @blankslatenyc , who have always supported my Etch A Sketch art throughout the recent years. Miss you all!!

So how are your Etch A Sketch skills? I know you’re not going to believe this, cuz I’d be skeptical too! This is literally Olive’s first try at it! 😱 1st pic is the work in progress. Swipe to see the finished product. She doesn’t even get why everyone is freaking out over it. 😆 #littleactors #siblingactors #actorslife #hiddentalent #randomtalents #vintageetchasketch #etchasketch #etchasketchart .

Blame 🇨🇦 for being so wonderful. Two weeks ago I joined 3 #etchasketch #artists @etchasketchgenius, @elliebearproductions and @princessetch for the most amazing set of adventures. I will be featuring these artists individually but swipe to first see appearance on @cp24breakfast where we each etched something. I drew portraits of @poojahandatv and @mikamidoloto then we headed over to @spinmaster HQ makers of #etchasketch, @pawpatrol and @hatchimals to help plan next year’s 60th #etchasketchday. Finally Kyle is not only a legendary Etch A sketch artist but owns and runs an exclusive a completely sustainable campground on a private lake @clearlakeecoretreat with amazing wife Angela, who is also extraordinary person as well. They hosted the first ever Etch a sketch retreat 2019 and it was glorious. . #spinmaster #clearlakeecoretreat #totonto #princessetchasketch #etchasketchartist #cp24 #poojaandaparna #mikamidolo #fun #sustainable #camping #friends #etcherfriends #caesar

Greetings from Toronto! After being on TV we were treated to a tour of the @spinmaster headquarters. When we saw this Etch A Sketch wall we insisted on group photos 📸 Oh how I long to gush about the many fun things we discussed...but what I *CAN* say is that I'm excited for the 60th anniversary next year! 🎉

I wish I snapped more photos but I was so caught up in the experience that I didn't want to pull my focus away for even a moment. For years I've longed to enter this very building and meet the people who keep Etch A Sketch relevant and on store shelves. I'm relieved and invigorated by their enthusiasm for Etch A Sketch and can't wait to see what's next. Thank you Spin Master for giving our small art community a chance to share our perspective and for including us in discussions for the big anniversary in 2020 💖

To my etch-a-friends who couldn't make it out to Toronto: I really wish you could have been there but I understand firsthand how difficult it is to stop your life for a week to fly to another country. The 4 of us did our best to share concerns and suggestions that the whole community has voiced, but I know many of you would have preferred to be there to share your insight in-person. If this meeting taught me anything, it's that Spin Master is listening to us and is interested in our feedback and ideas. I'm sure they'll be reaching out to us more as 2020 approaches!

Canada! Holy guacamole. Or uh, holy maple syrup? 🍁 This week has been a whirlwind adventure! Now that I'm home I am ready to finally begin sharing stories starring fellow etchers Kyle (@etchasketchgenius), Christoph (@amazingetchman), and Samantha (@elliebearproductions). It's not very often that a meeting of like-minded friends prompts a TV spot, but within minutes of meeting Kyle for the first time we were all on the air. Usually I'm a bit nervous before being on TV (and I feel silly even being able to type that - how can I have possibly been on TV enough to have an idea of how nervous I usually am?) but this time was so different. I felt relaxed and at-ease in the company of my friends I've known in-person and online for years, and the host did such a great job of giving each of us a chance to chat about our favorite toy and artistic medium. I'm really proud of how my rendition of the Canada flag turned out too! 🇨🇦 Check out a snippet of the broadcast by tapping the link in my bio 📺

Thank you @spinmaster for coordinating this fun opportunity. Stay tuned for some photos from our tour of the Spin Master HQ as well as some pics and stories from the camping trip that happened next! ⛺
