after eurovision has reached the point of no return, i would like to close that chapter of my fandom history.
but before that, i wanted to put out this final project that has been in the works for literal months. my disgust with the organisation pushed me to finally get it out, funnily enough.
i’m not sure how appropriate it is to post something celebrating eurovision now, but the intent here was to showcase a deep friendship with people in the fandom, and a picture of what the contest used to be and what it could have still been.
thank you to marit, sven and thijn for participating as always, sorry it took so long! this is my sinterklaas gift present to you i guess. :,)
anyway, please enjoy the ranking of the last time eurovision was held in my country.

HEY

My comeback starts here. After being inactive for almost a year I decided to come back with an iconic combined top with some of my best friends! I thought: why not do a combined top of Dutch songs hosted by probably the least nationalistic person on earth?

Little disclaimer:
The songs in this project are MY favourite songs in the Dutch language. So many songs are missing in this list, I know, but I don’t care. I will share a full playlist with more Dutch songs that I like.

I gathered 15 people (including me) to rank 20 of my favourite songs in the Dutch language and let’s say that the results are…. Interesting

And ofcourse, like my other projects, the designs will be 10/10 quality!!

as i mentioned on my story earlier, some of my first friends in the fandom came to visit me in norway: marit (@eternalesc), thijn (@yourlocaleurofan) and sven, formerly known as @/esc.nl, although he was here for only the weekend. and here’s a little recap of our week! out of context, of course.

we have gone through many eurovision performances, packs of moomin cookies, soda bottles and dutch swearwords. the weather was less than ideal for most of the week, but we did manage to see what we called ‘the edge of the world’ and climb the tallest mountain they have ever been close too, (400 meters above sea level), which took our breath away both due to the view from the top, and from the effort of the climb. also a lot of museums and videos of northern lights (although we could have seen the real thing if we just looked out of the window during the last night together. 💀)

we have gone over new and old inside jokes, we have yet another combined top coming up (stay tuned for esc 2010 top 39!!!!!1) and we set plans to hopefully see each other again in april at eic. we’ve made this city ours for a whole week, and now it’s back to reality for us all.

i’ve been lamenting the state of eurovision for the past couple of years, but a meeting such as this is a reminder of why this contest and this fandom are so special: the music, the appreciation of art and the actual people behind all of it. so if you’ve made friends in this fandom, cherish them.

i’m gonna stop being sappy now, but all in all, i just wanted to make a silly little post to celebrate this fun week. :)

finally, after a rather intense season, we can finally start the big project recounting it!
welcome to our biggest growers and sinkers, because a normal combined top is not complicated enough. ✨
swipe to see how this is going to work.

The last day of my project…but the day of the 1st semi final!!! 😍 I’m so, so, so, so excited 😙 anyways, this is my winner this year, I was OBSESSED with the Benidorm Fest version, the revamp was totally different and at first I was like wtf is this? But after seeing the music video I started to like it since it really fits 😌 soo now I’m obsessed with the revamp too and it’s my most streamed song of all time 😀

Denmark is almost my winner 2 years in a row (last year they were my winner) 😌 I really hope that mother Sea salt will qualify cause…those vocals 😍 she literally sounds better than anyone else in my opinion WHILE SHE IS SICK- anyways, this song is such a bop, my favorite danish entry ever 🤭

My own country! In 2023 I had an internship and they had the radio on and I heard Claude his songs every day and I just fell in love with his discography, since I was also a huge ESC fan I wanted him to go to ESC so when he was announced to go this year I couldn’t be more happier 😍 after almost 2 years of being a Claude fan he finally participates in ESC 😚 I love his song and I’m happy it sounds like all his other songs

One of the first songs that got selected, she wasn’t my winner at first (it was Rafa Ela) but after the live performance she stole my heart and she became my winner of LSC and since then I’ve loved this song, it’s soo catchy and original and I really hope she will qualify 🇱🇺 💓
